Version 1 Leinster Loop

Version 1 Leinster Loop The Leinster Loop is Ireland’s Premier Charity Cycle Sportive, nominated as Cycling Ireland’s best leisure event in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019.

This year the Leinster Loop takes place on the 27th and 28th of June 2020 and consists of 5 distinct routes:

*Sunday 28th June 2020*
• The Leinster Loop - a challenging 145km cycle through south Kildare, Laois, Kilkenny, Carlow and Wicklow.
• The Barrow Challenge - a testing 100km cycle through Kildare, Laois Carlow and Wicklow.
• The Cill Dara Cruise – a gentle 55km tester for those who spend a

bit of time in the saddle and a good test for those who don't.

*Saturday 27th June 2020*
• The Local Loop - a fun 25km cycle visiting our local villages. It is aimed at our young cyclists looking to progress upwards from our family cycle.
• The Family Ramble - a 12km leisure cycle through south Kildare and open to individuals and families from the community. Some of the unique features of the Leinster Loop will be:
• Hot food and refreshments on the Leinster Loop, Barrow Challenge and Cill Dara Cruise routes;
• Marshalled junctions to ensure safety for all;
• Full medical support on all routes;
• Controlled start and finish areas;
• Lead and support vehicles on all routes;
• Fully signposted and road-marked routes. A great and safe day is guaranteed to all participants. Book online, save the date and we’ll See You at The Loop !!

This year, for all the obvious reasons, the Pink Ribbon Cycle cannot happen. But women are still being diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer and the need to raise funds in support of cancer research remains.
The Pink Ribbon Sessions is a virtual concert that will take place this Saturday, 2 May on the Mayo Pink Ribbon page starting at 19.00 and running for 3+ hours. It will feature performances from local artists and bands and surprise contributions from some very well-known faces.

This year and every year, the money raised by Mayo Pink Ribbon funds essential research at the National Breast Cancer Research Institute at University Hospital Galway, led by Prof. Michael Keirn.
We hope that will give all loyal and new supporters an opportunity to contribute to crucial research whilst enjoying a great night’s entertainment from the comfort (and confinement!) of their own homes.

Disappointing but probably not surprising news that we have had to cancel the Leinster Loop 2020. The ongoing pandemic unseated us this year but we'll be back in the saddle in 2021.

**Leinster Loop Volunteers**

You are all invited to join us this Friday, 6th Dec at 8pm to meet Paul Earley, Board Member of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute who will address the important work being undertaken, and see Paul receive a cheque from the Leinster Loop for €17,000 from the 2019 event.

There will also be an exciting announcement on the night, so be sure to be there!
