✨ A fantastic celebration of community, culture and inclusion last Saturday at Newbridge Festival Of Dance as part of June Fest Newbridge.

More than 20 people from Kare took to the stage, performing alongside a mix of local groups, from line dancers and jivers to Irish dancers and traditional Indian performers, along with the amazing energy and support of the audience.

Over the past four weeks, Caroline Morrissey and volunteers from Kildare Irish Figure Dancers generously gave their time to help our dancers prepare for the event. The weekly workshops were filled with fun and laughter, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to come together.

Thank you to Caroline and her team, and to all of the families and staff members who gave their time and encouragement over the bank holiday weekend to make the day such a success.

Opportunities like this help people connect with their community, grow in confidence and enjoy being part of something together.

Well done to everyone involved! 💜

Did you know that routine activities, like parking and bin collections, can make it more challenging for people with disabilities to go about their daily lives?

Last Friday was Make Way Day, and we took to the streets of Kildare to spread the message about the role we each play in making our shared public spaces accessible for everyone.

Well done to Tully Rd, Academy St and all the Make Way Day advocates who were out and about in their local communities to highlight opportunities for improvement.

Voice for Kare visited the Houses of the Oireachtas yesterday evening, kindly hosted by Sean O'Fearghail TD.

As well as a fantastic guided tour of Leinster House including watching live votes and a Senate debate, we had the opportunity to meet other representatives from Kare's catchment area, Minister Martin Heydon and Edward Timmins TD.

Voice for Kare Chairperson David Leigh presented Sean O'Fearghail with a letter from the committee outlining some of the key issues faced by people with disabilities today.

Thank you to Sean and all of the staff and representatives we met, who were so welcoming and accommodating.

After months of preparation, a Kare/Crooked House drama collaboration took to the stage last week with a showcase performance in Newbridge.

The group has been taking part in weekly workshops with Crooked House Theatre Company since January, learning how to work together in a creative space, build stories, recognise emotions in performance, and develop their skills in front of an audience. Monday's showcase brought it all together as their grand finale.

Some of the actors have also been working towards their QQI Level 2 Drama Award, which they have now completed by taking part in the showcase performance.

This project was supported by Kare's Local Impact Fund, which makes funding available for new ideas and initiatives across the organisation.

Well done to all of the performers and thank you to the Crooked House facilitators and volunteers for their expertise, support and enthusiasm throughout.

A fantastic day yesterday at the Kildare Inclusivity Festival!

We were delighted to run the inclusive sports zone where people could try out different activities such as bocce and golf. We also shared lots of information at our stand about Kare and the supports we provide for people with intellectual disabilities.

It was an action-packed day with activities, performances, fun and above all a brilliant sense of community and inclusion.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat and take part!
