It is with great sadness we announce the passing of former chairman, secretary, PRO and most importantly of all, our friend Michael Higgins.

Michael was an integral part of the club as we navigated our way from humble beginnings to securing new grounds and putting structures in place to support future development.

His work was carried out quietly and he never wanted the limelight, however his wisdom and strategic insight was invaluable.

Aside from his committee work, Michael was a keen photographer and he has left us with thousands of photos to remember him by these can be seen on our Flickr page - link in Bio.

He was a committed community activist and was always willing to help local causes.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Michael’s wife Breda, daughter Una and all his extended family. He will be sorely missed.

Good news for County Kildare.

I welcome confirmation that a new Jigsaw youth mental health service will be established in Newbridge to support young people aged 12-25 across the county.

👏 Full credit is due to Minister of State for Mental Health, Mary Butler TD, whose commitment to expanding youth mental health services has secured €1.1 million in funding for this important initiative. The service will operate on a hub-and-spoke basis, ensuring that young people in communities throughout Kildare can access the support they need.

🏡 This is a significant investment in youth mental health and a much-needed development for our county. Early intervention and accessible supports can make a real difference in the lives of young people and their families.

✅ A positive step forward for young people across Kildare.
