Our Energy Clinic on November 14th is going to be so much better because of you!

13/10/2026

Kilcock Sustainable Energy Community is having an Energy Clinic in Kilcock GAA on Saturday 14th November 2-5pm

We have run a few of these before and we have looked for feedback from all those attending. We have made some changes to how this one will run based on what you told us. So, we hope this will be even more helpful and useful for you. It’s a complex area, with so many factors to consider. No two homes are the same and our lifestyles are different so we use energy in different ways. This means it can take a lot of time to take in and process all the information. This is why we keep holding Energy Clinics!

So, if you’ve already attended one or more we would recommend that you come again to this one, to deepen your learning, listen to others, ask questions.

We listened to your feedback and so this time we will have some presentations - a short one about the SEC and what we’re doing, a brief overview of home energy saving measures and grants. We will then have a panel of suppliers and experts to answer questions. This will be followed by a short Q&A session with local home owners to hear about their experiences. After the presentations local companies will have stalls you can visit to find out more. From your feedback we are now putting seats at the stalls so you can listen to other people’s questions and the answers, which is always so useful as everyone thinks differently so it’s great to hear answers you might not have thought to ask.
We appreciate that it can be more fun to go to the movies or otherwise entertain ourselves on a Saturday afternoon, but we believe this is important. Why not organise to come with a group of neighbours, friends, family and have a fun chat and catchup afterwards.

Kilcock SEC & Kilcock SVP collaborated with EnergyCloud to supply free tanks of hot water to a household in Kilcock that were struggling with their energy bills.

EnergyCloud (https://energycloud.org/ireland/) Ireland is a registered Irish charity tackling energy poverty while stopping renewable energy that the grid can’t accommodate from being wasted.

For a household experiencing energy poverty, the impact is practical and immediate: a tank of hot water, a warm shower, lower energy costs and one less expense to worry about.

At the request of Kilcock Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) the Kilcock Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) identified a family struggling with electricity costs and, together with Kilcock SEC, introduced them to the EnergyCloud programme. Following an assessment of the home, EnergyCloud installed a smart immersion controller, enabling the household to benefit from free tanks of hot water when energy is made available through the programme. It is important to note that the smart immersion does not need wifi and has normal controls similar to standard a immersion.

The pilot demonstrates a simple but powerful idea: renewable energy that might otherwise be wasted has the potential to be used for social good.

The Kilcock pilot demonstrates what can be achieved when local communities, charities and the energy sector work together.
