What a wonderful day for the community of Johnstown today - the official reopening of our refurbished St Kieran's Community Centre Johnstown KK. by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary. There was a fantastic turnout, and even the sunshine came out for the celebration.

Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to show the Minister what a proud community we are and how, when we all work together, great things can happen.

None of this could have happened with the support of Kilkenny County Council and all of our public representatives - many thanks to you all.

Here are a few photos to give a snapshot of the day - more to follow.

The Johnstown Community Sports Field Project will be delivered in strategic phases, with a total investment of over €1 million.
Funding from Sports Capital Ireland, LEADER and Kilkenny County Council has enabled this development.
We are reaching out to our local community, Diaspora and all those interested in the rejuvenation of North Kilkenny.

We are delighted to share that work on the Sport Field Project is underway and progressing well. Phase 1, the walkway and sports lighting project, is due for completion by August 2026. In autumn, we plan to begin the clubhouse/facilities, followed by the Spa Utd AstroTurf pitch. A major fundraising campaign is also underway, with a target of €100,000 — 10% of total spend.

We are now asking families and the Diaspora to support the build with a minimum family donation of €250. Larger donations are also very welcome. The Family Donation Scheme is run in partnership with Johnstown Community Concern, registered charity number 20016791.
Each donating family will be named on a memorial board on the outside wall of our building. Family businesses that have already contributed are automatically included.

You can contribute in either of the following ways:
• Transfer to Community Concern IBAN: IE97AIBK93333303753043
• Pay by cheque to Community Concern and send it to John Renehan, Chairperson, Violet Hill, Johnstown, County Kilkenny.

Please include your family name in the bank transfer description.
