We are kicking off our heritage event, Picks from the Past now at the Hub. Some very interesting artefacts, photos, and stories. Pop in for a cuppa and a scone.

As part of our Picks from the Past event at Kilglass Parish Community Centre & Hub, we’re inviting members of the community to bring along items that tell a story about life in times gone by.

Old household items, farming tools and equipment, photographs, documents, keepsakes, crafts, memorabilia, vintage cars & machinery— anything that offers a glimpse into our local past.

No item is too ordinary — often the simplest things have the best stories to tell!

All items are most welcome and will be treated with care. Drop off at Kilglass Parish Community Centre & Hub on Saturday August 29th between 6-7pm or call 087 9717623 to arrange an alternative time/date.

Meitheal was something Canon George believed in deeply, and over the past few days we saw it at its very best.

Hundreds of people from near and far came through the doors of the Hub. Volunteers gave their time, people brought sandwiches, buns and cakes.

Canon George was the catalyst for the Hub and always wanted it to be a place where the community could come together. It is so sad that he didn’t live to see the new community hall open, but he would have been very proud of how the Hub was used yesterday and today.

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way.

In light of the passing of the Very Reverend Canon George McHale, this Sunday’s Heritage Day event ‘Picks from the Past’ has been postponed. We will reschedule the event over the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding.

Remembering Canon George this evening with heavy hearts.

Canon George was so much more than our parish priest. He was a treasured friend to young and old, a gifted storyteller and playwright, and a wonderful source of love, support, laughter and encouragement within our community.

He played an instrumental role in getting our new community centre started, and his contribution to parish life will be remembered for many years to come.

Thank you, Canon George, for the stories, the fun, the friendship and everything you did for our community. You touched so many lives and will be very sadly missed.

Here is a short video from his jubilee celebrations, a lovely reminder of a very special man and a life dedicated to others.

As a mark of respect on the passing of Cannon George McHale our Heritage event will be postponed until further notice.

Expanding upon our success of last years Picks from the Past event - we wish to add to our collection of old photographs and memorabilia of bygone days and people from our community, as well as displaying old vehicles and machinery as a nod to our rich cultural past.

All people from our community & beyond are encouraged to attend, both young and old. We would love for the community to become involved and share their memories, pictures and items of interest.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Kilglass Community Council CLG will hold an Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 20th August at 8pm in Kilglass Digital Hub. Members of the community are welcome to attend.
