Two shared offices will facilitate remote workers and also provide a revenue stream for the facility. With broadband fiber serving the building there will also be hot desk facilities, a kitchen and a coffee dock. A meeti

ng room with teleconferencing facilities will also be available. At the rear of the building there will be a large hall and stage which will facilitate music and dancing lessons, indoor sports, concerts, performances, and social gatherings. This will be a hub within the community supporting children, workers and recreation

We were delighted to welcome Minister Dara Calleary TD to turn the sod of new community centre on Sunday last.

Thanks to everyone who attended including Councillor Donal Gilroy, Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Minister Marian Harkin TD, Deputy Eamon Scanlon TD, Councillor Joe Queenan, and Councillor Annie May Reape.

We were awarded €1.1 million under the Community Centres Investment Fund through the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, in partnership with Sligo County Council.

The new facility will provide a versatile space for sports, music, meetings and a wide range of community activities.

It will also include a stage to
accommodate performances such as amateur drama, children’s plays, concerts and other local events.

The new community centre will also have a darts and pool room, a kids room and a store.

This project represents Phase Two of a landmark development and will deliver much-needed infrastructure for the area.

We expect the new facility to open before the end of the year!

We’re delighted to announce our first ever Kilglass Hub Table Quiz, hosted by Billy Varley on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Last year the community came together in an incredible way and raised €99,000 through our sponsorship drive. Because of that support, we were able to contribute €50,000 (our match funding requirement) towards Phase 1 of the Hub development.

Now we have a €65,000 payment to Sligo County Council for our match funding requirement for Phase 2. This will be used to help build Phase 2.

That was a huge milestone and something the whole community should be proud of.

The Hub is doing really well, but we now need to rebuild our fundraising buffer so we can continue to develop the space and support activities in the community.

So this quiz night is about getting people together for a good night out while helping the Hub continue to grow.
