We work with women, new communities, children, older people, men, and Travellers. The FRC CDP acknowledges that Irish society has significant inequalities in relation to income, resources and power. We are aware that the gap between rich and poor continues to widen. We are also keenly aware of many sections of Irish society who are discriminated against and as a result are often marginalized and b
enefit less from progress made locally and nationally. The FRC CDP through its policy work at a local and national level challenges this engrained and structural inequality. We work with the most marginalized people in the area. We believe in people’s capacity to grow and change and contribute to making their lives, their children’s lives and their community`'s life better. We meet people where they are at in their lives and we have a genuine commitment to people of all ages, gender, sexuality, race, ability etc. We value the human rights of the people we work with and we work diligently to make people aware of their rights and to protect those rights. At the heart of The FRC CDP is an open door, a warm welcome, a non-judgmental attitude and genuine solidarity. Basic Principles
It is the view of the Family Resource Centre that the growing inequality, poverty and exclusion, which characterise Irish society, are linked closely to the structures by which our society is organised. To address these inequalities and divides, we believe, that action that involves those who experience exclusion, i.e. women, the unemployed, the working class, the gay community and Travellers, new communities, are a priority in bringing about social change. • Providing a warm and friendly environment in the centres.
• Offering local educational opportunities for development.
• Offering training opportunities which are a means of raising awareness,
politicising, developing skills and analysis on an individual and collective basis.
• Through joint designing and evaluation of all programmes and through the provision of opportunities for users to move into leadership positions. We aim to encourage real participation at all levels of the organisation.
• Developing new approaches through working in partnerships with voluntary and statutory groups and semi-state bodies. An element of this work includes the education of the above groups to the needs and rights of the local community.
• Networking with groups, local regional and national
