Hospital Family Resource Centre Marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
On Thursday, 11th June, the Hospital Family Resource Centre observed World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by hosting an informative session to highlight the importance of recognising and addressing elder abuse. Jacinta Sheerin from Adapt Services delivered a workshop to raise awareness of what constitutes elder abuse and the support services available to those affected.
Elder abuse refers to the mistreatment of individuals aged 65 or over, typically occurring in relationships where trust is expected. It can involve a single incident or repeated acts — or even neglect — that cause harm, distress, or infringe on the person’s human and civil rights.
