Our Story
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and is funeded by charitable donations. This branch is dedicated to supporting the lifeboat in Wicklow Town. Like us and feel free to get in touch! http://www.wicklowlifeboat.com/ Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat Station was established in 1857, the first lifeboat was a 30 foot rowing boat called DAUNTLESS. Today the Station has 2 lifeboats crewed by local volunteers - the RNLB JOCK AND ANNIE SLATER, a relief Shannon Class and the Dennis Audrey, a D class inshore.
Wicklow Lifeboat station has a distinguished history, recently saying goodbye to the RNLB ANNIE BLAKER, the las Tyne Class all weather lifeboat in the RNLI fleet and stationed at Wicklow since 1989. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 our lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved at least 139,000 lives. Volunteers make up 95% of the charity, including 4,600 volunteer lifeboat crew members and 3,000 volunteer shore crew. Additionally, tens of thousands of other dedicated volunteers raise funds and awareness, give safety advice, and help in our museums, shops and offices.
