Gort Tidy Towns would like to acknowledge the kind donation of 173 euro from Orla Hegarty towards flowers and shrubs to keep our town beautiful 🌸🌼🌻
Orla is a young student who collected cans/bottles for return over the last two years and gave the donation to her town.

Gort Tidy Towns is excited to present a series of sustainability talks being held throughout this autumn. Each talk will center on a topic related to how we can live our lives to ensure a more eco-friendly future 🌎

The first talk is about Responsible Consumption. Our speaker Michelle O'Dowd-Lohan will discuss how to be a responsible consumer in today's economy. We'll explore topics like sourcing your produce from local Irish growers, reducing your food waste, and choosing recyclable/biodegrateable packaging over plastic.
If you're keen to learn more, come to the talk on 9/9 at 7:30pm in the Gort Community Centre.

Gort Tidy Towns is looking for help! Together, let's make Gort an even lovelier place to live, work, and visit.

If you care about your town and want to enhance community spirit... get in touch!

Yes, we do regular litter picking and planting, but also a whole lot more. If you are interested in gardening, public policy, community safety, housing, public art, pollinators, or anything related to making Gort beautiful, then we want you!

Hi everyone, coming on here this evening to talk about a serious matter. It's been brought to our attention that two plants were stolen from a bed that we recently planted, one of them being this lovely Hydrangea, pictured in the first photo.

This is a reminder that Tidy Towns is a volunteer effort run by local people who take the time out of their busy lives to do something nice for our town. We endeavour to make Gort a nicer place for us all to live on a regular basis through installing new plantings, maintaining existing ones, and picking litter. So when someone tampers with that for personal gain, it's disheartening to see and just not cool at all. These plants aren't free. We pay for them through grant funding that we apply for. We're working towards more thoughtful plant selection, for the benefit of both townspeople and the ecosystem. One of our volunteers thought this pink hydrangea was gorgeous, and might brighten someone's day. If you like this plant, go find it in Gort's Garden Centre. This way, you're supporting a local business instead of tearing down a volunteer group. Please respect and support our efforts, they come from a good and genuine place.

We thank our volunteers for continued support and encourage anyone who's inspired by our mission to join us. Tuesday evenings at 7pm in Canon Quinn Park, or reach out to be notified about special projects.

Now that spring has finally landed, our weekly Tuesday gatherings are back on! Join us tomorrow evening from 7-8pm for our first meeting of the season where we'll do what we do best - tidying our town. All are welcome and equipment is provided.
