Church In Chains

Church In Chains An Irish Voice for Persecuted Christians (CHY 23070) on behalf of persecuted Christians. Church in Chains believes in religious freedom for all.

Church in Chains is an independent Irish charity that encourages prayer and action in support of persecuted Christians worldwide. Church in Chains publishes the latest news in a quarterly magazine, a monthly news summary and a website (www.churchinchains.ie ). Church in Chains supports a network of prayer groups around Ireland and also encourages advocacy (by means o

f letters, petitions, vigils, meetings with Ambassadors etc.) Church in Chains works with several international partners to channel aid to families of prisoners. It also provides Bibles, Christian literature and assistance to Christians who are in poor circumstances because of their faith. Church in Chains organises an annual conference where visiting speakers tell of their personal experiences of persecution. Church in Chains was formerly known as CHRISTIAN CONCERN FOR FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE. Its work began in the 1970โ€™s by raising awareness of the persecution of Christians in the Soviet Union.

This short video from Christian Solidarity Worldwide explains why we continue to join them in organising an annual vigil outside the Eritrean Embassy in London โ€“ calling for the release of Christian prisoners in Eritrea. Next Thursday, two representatives from Church in Chains will once again travel to London to stand in solidarity.

๐Ÿ™๐ŸปPlease continue to pray for Pastor John Cao (65) in China. Last Sunday (26 April) John was reunited with his wife Jamie Powell after nine years apart when she and their children visited him in hospital in China.
John, who was imprisoned in China between 2017 and 2024, has been diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer and a spinal tumour, with cancer cells having spread to his bone marrow. https://www.churchinchains.ie/news-by-country/east-asia/china/china-john-cao-diagnosed-with-cancer-receives-family-visit/

Please pray for Pastor John Cao, who served a seven-year prison sentence in China from 2017 to 2024, who has been hospitalised with severe pain in his back and legs. A fellow Christian in Changsha, Hunan province, described Pastor Johnโ€™s pain as โ€œexcruciatingโ€ and added, โ€œHe is unable to sleep at night and unable to sit during the day. โ€https://www.churchinchains.ie/news-by-country/east-asia/china/china-former-prisoner-john-cao-hospitalised-with-severe-pain/

This is the final week of our Lent Prayer Project and we'll be praying for Kim Jong Uk (61), a South Korean Baptist missionary who worked in China with North Korean refugees. He was arrested in 2013 when he entered North Korea with Bibles. In 2014 he was sentenced to life imprisonment in labour camp.

Here are the prayer points for the coming week
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Sunday: Ask God to protect Kim Jong Uk in labour camp.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Monday: Pray for good mental and physical health.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Tuesday: Pray for encouragement and spiritual strength.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Wednesday: Pray for his release and for him to return home.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Thursday: Ask God to comfort and bless Missionary Kimโ€™s family.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Friday: Pray for all North Korean Christians imprisoned for their faith.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Saturday: Pray for freedom of worship for Christians in North Korea.

Where is Simin? The family of Simin Soheilinia, who has been serving a ten-year sentence in Tehranโ€™s Evin Prison, is concerned for her safety. Simin was due for release before the war began on 28 February but has not been heard from since.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Pray that the Lord will watch over Simin (and all other Iranian Christian prisoners) and keep them safe as the war continues.
