Our annual plant sale is back. Saturday May 16th, 10am to 4pm, here at Yellow Belly Farm in Midleton. Last year was something special. The sun came out, the vibes were green and we sold out of nearly everything. It was honestly one of my favourite days on the farm. So this year we're going

About this event:
Learn how to create a plan of action for helping biodiversity in your local area with ecologist Karen Loxton, and hear how a Biodiversity Action Plan works in practice with examples from Green Skibbereen. There will be plenty of examples of actions you can replicate in your own locality!

Discover Nature Based Solutions with Michelle McKeown from UCC, what they are and how they could help locally and nationally. Find out about the different Citizen Science initiatives available from the National Biodiversity Data Centre with Rachel Hayden and how you can use them in your own work.

Complete the day with a guided walk through Harpers Island Wetlands with Birdwatch Ireland and take part in a biobiltz along the way.

🪱 Earthworm Workshop – Beaumont Quarry Wildlife Area 🌱
We are delighted to host a special workshop on earthworms at Beaumont Quarry Wildlife Area in partnership with University College Dublin. This unique, once-off event is not to be missed!
Join researchers to learn about earthworm ecology, soil health, and how you can help improve our knowledge of these invaluable species. Participants will also take part in a hands-on citizen science survey.
The day will include:
• An introduction to earthworms and their ecology
• Sampling sites in the quarry
• Discussion on soil health and biodiversity
• A practical earthworm survey

📍 Beaumont Quarry Wildlife Area, Beaumont Drive, Cork City
Please bring warm, suitable outdoor clothing. Tea and coffee will be provided.
🌍 About the project
The SoilRise Project aims to research, protect, and raise awareness of soil biodiversity. Earthworms play a vital role in keeping our soils healthy. With the help of citizen scientists, researchers are collecting data on the distribution and diversity of earthworms across Ireland.
Participants will learn about earthworm ecology, take part in a short questionnaire, and get the chance to dig for data and discover the hidden life of our soils.
