Our Unit is delighted to be playing a central role in National Services Day - 2026 – Galway
Galway is getting ready for National Services Day!
On Saturday, 5 September 2026, Galway will join communities across Ireland in celebrating National Services Day – recognising the dedication, courage and service of the people who serve and protect our communities every day.
Galway City
The day’s programme will include a Commemoration Ceremony at 11am.
From Galway City Hall at 12:00pm the parade will take place, making its way from Galway City Hall to Galway Docks, travelling via Eyre Square, Shop Street and Spanish Parade.
From 12:45pm – 3:30pm we will then have a Static Display at the Galway Docks.
Come along and meet the amazing men and women of An Garda Síochána Galway, National Ambulance Service (NAS), Oranmore Civil Defence Galway Civil Defence, Óglaigh na hÉireann / Irish Defence Forces ONE Veterans Charity, Irish Coast Guard Irish Naval Service, Order of Malta Ireland - Ambulance Corps - Mervue, Irish Red Cross, Galway Mountain Rescue Team, Galway County Council, Customs & Revenue, Fire and Rescue Galway, RNLI, Irish Blood Transfusion Service, Little Blue Heroes, Irish United Nations Veterans Association, Blood Bike Mid West, and many, many more.
A huge thank you to An Garda Síochána for their support in keeping our parade moving smoothly through the town – it’s very much appreciated.
The Galway Docks display will also feature historic boats and a Customs & Revenue Vessel, adding to what promises to be a fantastic afternoon for all ages.
National Services Day is about bringing communities and services together. We invite the people of Galway and beyond to come out, show their support and help us recognise those who dedicate themselves to serving others.
