126 Artist-Run Gallery Follow us: https://www.instagram.com/126gallery.studios/ Established in 2005, 126 is an artist led organisation integral to the visual arts culture in Galway.

126 is a voluntary, not for profit artist-run gallery based in Galway City, in the west of Ireland, founded in 2005. 126 is proudly funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and Galway City Council. Run voluntarily by a board of professional artists, 126 curates and programmes an arts space including a contemporary exhibition programme, talks & workshops, residencies and research projects. Its focus i

s to support emerging contemporary practices & partnerships, by creating exhibition, commission & development opportunities.

126 was founded on a democratic structure, in which power flows from the membership to the Board of Directors. The Board promotes the ideology of the membership, as laid out in the organisation’s aims, through the activities of 126. The Board directly represents the membership and it is on the basis of this relationship that the projected success and longevity of 126 is based. Membership provides a platform to individuals to connect with a larger network of professional artists. There are currently 170+ members. Opportunities include participation in annual members shows, artist talks, events and national and international residencies. By paying an annual subscription fee of €10 (students/concession) and €20 (waged) you are supporting the core funding of a vital visual arts organisation in Ireland.

Exhibition Launch: Friday 26th September, 6pm.

126 Artist-Run Gallery & Studios presents Groundwork, an exhibition of work by Forensic Architecture which traces the ongoing Nakba (catastrophe) in Palestine.

Using methods such as ‘situated testimony’ interviews, open-source research, and cartographic analysis, these investigations document the immediate and long-term impact of cycles of forced displacement, systematic massacres, and destruction of land and civilian infrastructure. Groundwork observes relationships to place through memory and multigenerational lived experience, foregrounds acts of resistance to the continuum of erasure, and affirms solidarity between Palestine and Ireland through a shared understanding of occupation and colonialism.

Forensic Architecture is a research agency based at Goldsmiths, University of London,

operating across human rights, journalism, architecture, art and aesthetics, academia and the law. Their team is dedicated to developing and employing cutting-edge techniques for investigating state violence and human rights violations.

Curated by Kate McSharry.
