Wishing the very best of luck to everyone starting exams tomorrow!

We know how much effort you've put in & now it's your time to shine. Remember, exams are important but they’re not the be-all & end-all. They don’t define your worth, your intelligence or your future. Life is full of opportunities to grow, learn & succeed in many different ways 🍀 🤞

We are pleased to share that our Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Pam & Mary (not pictured) have successfully completed their Cancer: Thrive and Survive (CTS) training.

This evidence-based self-management programme, developed by Stanford University School of Medicine, supports people recovering from cancer treatment. Delivered over six weekly sessions (2½ hours each), it helps participants build the skills & confidence to manage their health, stay active & maintain meaningful relationships.

We will be offering an in-person CTS course starting this September, based in the studio here at Hollyblue House. Further details will be shared in due course but if you are interested in attending then please contact us on 086 1724500 for more information.

We were sorry to say goodbye yesterday to volunteers Alice & Oprah. While they have only been with us a few months, they have really enjoyed being part of our 'Meet & Greet' team here at Hollyblue House. Alice would be here every Tuesday, helping set up for Art, while Oprah had a great time helping out with our Arts & Crafts group every Friday.

We wish them all the best with their move to Dublin. Please know that we will always be delighted to welcome you back to our centre.

It was a testament to the special lady that the late Mary Mahon was that there was such a great turnout at the recent coffee morning hosted by Ica Gort & we are delighted that it raised such a wonderful amount for our charity in her memory.

We were honoured to accept this generous cheque for the amount of €2,000 raised on the day. Pictured here are Teresa Nestor, Cathy Curlette & Caroline Hehir of Gort ICA presenting the cheque to Mary Nolan.

Every euro raised will help us continue to provide vital support services free of charge to those affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Our heartfelt thanks to ICA Gort & to everyone who attended, donated & helped make the day so special.

It's National Sunscreen Day. Today is a reminder of just how important it is to protect our skin from harmful UV rays, which is something we should be mindful of all year round, not just in the summer months.

Whether it’s sunny, cloudy, or somewhere in between, UV rays are still present & can cause lasting damage. Making sunscreen part of your daily routine is one of the simplest & most effective ways to care for your skin.

Remember to apply (& reapply!) a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, especially if you’re spending time outdoors. Don’t forget often-missed areas like your face, ears & neck.

The forecast is looking bright, warm & sunny over the next few days. But while you're enjoying the sunshine, don’t forget one very important thing: protect your skin.

✅ Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
🧢 Wear a hat & sunglasses
👕 Cover up with light, breathable clothing
⏰ Seek shade during peak hours (11am–3pm)
💧 Stay hydrated!

Sun safety isn’t just for beach days, even a short walk or time in the garden can expose your skin to harmful UV rays. Taking a few simple steps can help prevent sunburn, premature aging & reduce your risk of skin cancer.
