What a day for our very own Tony Corr!

​We could not be prouder to share that Tony was formally recognised this week at Galway’s Positive Ageing celebration in the Town Hall Theatre!

​Councillor Evelyn Parsons, Cathaoirleach of the Ballinasloe Municipal District, presented Tony with a beautiful framed portrait, alongside the Mayor of Galway City. Hosted wonderfully by Sally-Ann Barrett, the event honoured "Local Heroes" from across the county…and Tony was right where he belongs, among the very best of them.

​Turning 75 this coming November, Tony is an absolute daily inspiration to everyone around him. His vibrant health, brilliant attitude, constant positivity, and generous contribution to our community embody exactly what positive ageing is all about.

​To top it all off, Tony is featured in the official Positive ageing booklet 2026, and his portrait will be on exhibition across local libraries throughout County Galway over the coming weeks… so keep an eye out for a very familiar, smiling face in your local branch! 📸📚

​The day started in style with a delicious breakfast treated to the Brooklodge crew at the Corrib Tea Rooms before heading into the theatre for music, celebration, and plenty of well-deserved applause. Tony was absolutely delighted with the honour, and he is worth every single second of celebration.

Fantastic to see Ability West Headford Hub involved in this year’s “Something In The Water” community arts festival.

It is brilliant to see a festival that helps create and support inclusion and participation. Working alongside local artists Midie Corcoran and Jojo Hynes of Sparkcatchers, participants were supported to explore their creativity and bring their “Big Dreams” to life through photography, poetry, song writing and visual art!!!

The festival takes place in Headford from 30th of September to 4th of October.
