Sept 20th - a date for your diary
Please mark your diaries for ‘The International Sounds & Flavours of Oranmore’ - A complimentary evening of music and light bites as part of Culture Night 2024 on Friday 20th September 📆
Organised by the Oranmore Community Development Association (OCDA), and in partnership with a number of Oranmore’s food outlets, that have volunteered to provide a range of complimentary tasters that reflect the culturally diverse cuisine of Mexico, Ukraine, Bangladesh, India, Italy & Ireland 🍲
A big thank you to Brazco Coffee Academy, Baditos, Santoor, Apache Pizza, Ground & Co, Orlik, Poppyseed, La Vita, Papa John’s, Basilico, Urban Fire, Sakura and the Ukrainian community for making this possible 😀
The event will run from 6pm to 8pm in a pop-up marquee village located between the Astro pitch and the Castle Road and will feature a performance area for a number of bands to play throughout the evening 🎶
We are particularly pleased to confirm that the evening will include music from the ballroom days of the 70's and 80's by the Golden Star, a band formed in 1961 by Ray O'Donoghue and which featured the well-known and much-loved Maree singer the late James Keane as lead vocalist for over thirty years. For this special occasion, James will be replaced by his grandson, the newly elected Councillor Cillian Keane, singing the same songs his grandfather sang and who will be supported by original members, Ray O'Donoghue and Judy Grealish 🎼
