Westside Community Organic Garden

Westside Community Organic Garden The Garden was set up in 2011 with the help of Westside Resource Centre, the VEC, HSE and of course the local council who gave the site.

We are open Wednesday from 10am to 12pm except for the winter. Volunteers are always welcome. The garden is on a quater acre site between Community Centre and Westside Creche and Playschool. We have a group of around 20 members from the local community, with 7 or 8 hardcore volunteers, who are there hail, rain or shine. We welcome more volunteers from the local area between 10-12am on wed, and 7-9

pm on wed eve during the summer. We run gardening classes in the Westside Resource Centre and apply the knowledge we have gathered in the garden to grow veg of all kind. We network with other organic gardens in the city, Ballybane and Ballinfoyle Gardens mainly, to share resources, access more courses and generally get to know one another and have the craic. Gardening is great fun afterall with harvest time being a time for cooking what we have grown and inviting the local community to come. We are also hoping to develop raised beds for the children of the playschool to work on and disabled access also.
