We had a brilliant last branch meeting of the year on Monday. And what a year this has been! The branch has been growing, building from strength to strength. We tenants are feeling more powerful than ever as part of our resilient communities!

Get ready for our last branch meeting of the year and holiday social!

Our branch is meeting up at 6 PM in Club Áras na nGael next Monday, the 8th of December. The branch meeting is a chance for us to check in with committee roles, answer questions for new branch members, and have us all meet up and share ideas as well as hear about any updates and progress in the union.

Even if you can’t make the branch meeting, you’re very welcome to join us for the Holiday Social in the Áras held at 7:30 PM!

Pizza, pints, and chats will be had by all. Come along, bring a friend! All members are welcome.

Get ready for our last branch meeting of the year and holiday social!

What would you do if your rent went up by 66% overnight? CATU Galway member, Cáit, using statistics on rent increase in Galway since 2019 to illustrate how the Government’s proposed legislation on housing would affect renters in the 26 counties. Speaking at the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Housing yesterday.

We'll be joined by Conchúr Ó Muadaigh, advocacy manager at Conradh na Gaeilge, to talk about the Irish language movement and the political context in the six counties. This event is suitable for both English and Irish speakers.

We will hold our local AGM on Saturday 18th October 2025.

This is a day for all CATU Galway members to come together, plan for the year ahead, celebrate, vote on local campaigns and elect a new committee.
Please fill in the registration form in our bio if you want to join this year's local AGM.
During this day we will also have discussions on writing motions for the national Ard Fheis on November 29th as well as do a little refresher training on community organising.
Snacks, coffee and tea will be available.
