Today was International Day of Hope.
I thought about writing a list of all the happy news stories I saw throughout the week, but depressingly enough, I didn't actually see any! So I'll share some examples from my own week that gave me hope.
Over the weekend, I completed a 24-hour gaming marathon in aid of Samaritans. Samaritans offer people hope when they need it most. If anyone's interested in completing one, I'd highly recommend doing it. They have similar challenges; like a crafting and a swimming one. I reached, what I thought was an extremely ambitious fundraising target, just over 24 hours after posting it. I was so amazed by how generous my friends and family were.
I also got an email from the man I buy vegetables from to say that they harvested far more courgettes than they had orders for. I got another email the following day to say that after his request, their website got so much traffic from people trying to support them, that it had crashed.
The point is, there's hope to be found everywhere, really. Just maybe not in the news. :)

Esra Işık, a 26-year-old environmental human rights defender, is facing prosecution for simply exercising her rights. She was detained on 30 March after taking part in a peaceful protest against an urgent expropriation decision affecting villages near Akbelen forest. Her next hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon. The charges must be dropped immediately.
