Frenchpark Tidy Towns Team

Frenchpark Tidy Towns Team We are local care in action — community-led planting and environmental stewardship, heritage preservation, and creative renewal in the heart of Frenchpark, Co.

Roscommon. Frenchpark Tidy Towns is a group of passionate volunteers working together to make our village a place that feels alive, looked after, and quietly thriving. We focus on planting, pollinator support, public space improvements, creative reuse, and celebrating local history and heritage — all with an eye on long-term sustainability and small, steady progress. We also proudly champion our l

ocal businesses and services, and look for ways to connect enterprise, culture, and environmental care in the everyday life of the village. We’re not just gardeners. We’re planners, artists, grant wranglers, clean-up crews, heritage buffs, and community connectors. Together we are building something that reflects the heart of Frenchpark. If you’d like to get involved, suggest a project, or just say hello, we’d love to hear from you. We’re also happy to offer nature-friendly planting advice, pollinator support ideas, or guidance for anyone hoping to brighten up their corner of the village — big or small.

🎉 Fantastic to have award winning landscape architect Tom Bradford visit Frenchpark this week.

Tom and Mèabh kindly gave up their time to take a tour with our team and hear what vision we have for the villages spaces. 🌳

We spoke about planting, ongoing initiatives and strategy. We also gave him an insight into some of the historical significance that’s attached to Frenchpark. 😁

This is a fantastic opportunity for our team to have this conversation and hopefully many more to come 🤝

Shovels, plants and wildflowers 🌷🪻🌸

As the judging for the tidy towns kicked off earlier in the week, we are keeping busy getting our areas looking the part ✨

Sowing perennials, shrubs and the newest addition to the clann Connecting to Nature.ie ‘Cornfield Annuals’ 🌱🪻 how excited we are to see these blossom. 😁

Disclaimer: if Tidy towns did workers, we probably have the best one in the country (Thanks Sheila 😉)

🥳 Welcome to Frenchpark Connecting to Nature.ie 🪻

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Patrick from Connecting to Nature to Frenchpark. He travelled all the way up from Ferrybank in Waterford for a site visit. 🕵🏼‍♂️

This showed us their full commitment and support to us in our vision for Frenchpark. We visited various areas around the village to potentially transform in to wildflower patches, in keeping with our commitment to strengthen the biodiversity and sustainability in the village. 🌸🦋

Patrick happily shared knowledge and insight of native wildflowers, soil diversity and how to sow and maintain these wildflowers based on environmental changes. ☀️☔️❄️

We look forward to this partnership even more so now and cannot wait to get our new cornfield annual mix in the ground. 🌷🌱

A sincere thank you to Shona, Julie, Patrick and all the team at Connecting to Nature in believing in us. 😁

♻️ Frenchpark is a Litter Free Zone ♻️

Thanks to our volunteers (young and old) that went out last weekend and did an extensive litter pick around the village. 🏠

There are a number of black bins provided around the village. Please don’t dump your litter 🚯

We can all do our part and live in a cleaner environment ✅

How nice is the entrance to our local childcare facility Frenchpark & Districts Childcare Ltd 🌷

You wouldn’t believe that by just keeping your homes and businesses neat and tidy adds so much value to the curb side appeal and streetscape. 👏🏻This in turn, contributes enormously to what we as a Tidy Towns teams are trying to achieve both on the ground and for competition. ✅

So from all of us here at Frenchpark tidy towns - Thank you 🙏🏻🌸

🌼🌺 THANK YOU 🌺 🌼

A huge thank you to Castlerea Garden Centre for their generous sponsorship towards our existing and upcoming projects. 🤗

We went with our projects mapped out on paper and Mark was absolutely brilliant at showing us planting groups and what would work in the different areas. ☀️🌸

We are super grateful for the time he took to explain and give his expertise on the plant structures and optimum environments to help our plants thrive. 😎 We love to support our local businesses like this and they are so generous in return. 🤩

🕯️At Dusk We Remembered🕯️

Tuesday at dusk, as the sun set just west off our village of Frenchpark, our team remembered a little boy named Patrick Stokes, aged 8, who died tragically on the 26th May 1959.

His memorial stone stands tall in our village and as a mark of respect to Patrick and his family we decided to clean, repaint and restore his memorial stone.🙏🏻 We added flowers to bring a touch of colour and when people walk past to admire the flowers, we hope will give a thought to Patrick. 🌸

Thank you to Michael Carney for his advice on how to carefully clean and continue to clean the stone.

May he continue to Rest in Peace. 🕊️
