Bealtaine, otherwise known as Beltane or May Eve is the major fertility festival of the year. This is the time when all of nature is rapidly growing and moving forward with rampant potency. The life- force is manifesting and bursting with creativity. It is a time to celebrate the fertility of the land and our own creative urges; a time of growth, expansion and playfulness when sexual forces are at their peak. In Ireland Bealtaine marks the start of summer. At midnight on May Eve, people would rise to gather flowers and boughs to decorate their homes. This was for the Sun to see the decorations in his honour when he rose next morning. Traditionally this was the night to celebrate the union of the Horned God and the fertile Goddess. Young couples would make love outdoors in the forests and green fields, re-enacting the sacred marriage between Earth and Sky to ensure the fertility of the land. Maypoles were erected and dances performed to energise the soil. Cattle would be driven through the smoke of the sacred Bealtaine fire as a protection from disease and to bring fertility. In Celtic and pre-Celtic times, the largest Bealtaine assemblies were held on the Hill of Uisneach at the heart of the country. It is said that a bonfire lit here could be seen in every direction and fires lit in response would light up all around the coast.

Bealtaine, également connu sous le nom de Beltane ou May Eve (veille de Mai) est le principal festival de fertilité de l’année. C’est le moment où toute la nature se développe rapidement et va de l’avant avec une puissance rampante. La force vitale se manifeste et déborde de créativité. C’est le moment de célébrer la fertilité de la terre et nos propres pulsions créatives ; une période de croissance, d’expansion et de jeu où les forces sexuelles sont à leur apogée. En Irlande, Bealtaine marque le début de l’été. À minuit la veille de Mai, les gens se levaient pour cueillir des fleurs et des branches pour décorer leurs maisons. C’était pour que le Soleil puisse voir les décorations en son honneur quand il s’est levé le lendemain matin. Traditionnellement, c’était la nuit pour célébrer l’union du Dieu Cornu et de la Déesse fertile. Les jeunes couples faisaient l’amour à l’extérieur dans les forêts et les champs verdoyants, reconstituant le mariage sacré entre la Terre et le Ciel pour assurer la fertilité de la terre. Des mâts de Mai furent érigés et des danses exécutées pour dynamiser le sol. Le bétail était conduit à travers la fumée du feu sacré de Bealtaine comme protection contre les maladies et pour apporter la fertilité.
À l’époque celtique et préceltique, les plus grandes assemblées bealtaines se tenaient sur la colline d’Uisneach, au cœur du pays. On dit qu’un feu de joie allumé ici pouvait être vu dans toutes les directions et que des feux allumés en réponse s’allumaient tout autour de la côte.

This is the beginning of Summer in Celtic lands - a festival to rejoice in the land's fertility and our innate creative impulses. Our ceremony is designed to help us to purify, let go, and bring forth the dreams we want to fertilize and manifest. This is the time to honour and celebrate the wild man and woman within, and to take a leap into the power of our own potential. Hawthorne has stepped forward to assist us during this time when the veil between the physical world and spiritual world is the thinnest. We pray to open ourselves to Hawthorn for renewal, and to bring forth our wildness and creativity.

NETTLE

Spring Equinox
Equinox means "equal night". this occurs when the sun is positioned above the equator, causing day and night to be of equal length all over the world. The Spring Equinox falls around March 20-23 and is a time for celebrating new life, hope, and the activation of the fertility cycle. In Ireland and other temperate parts of the world, buds are bursting open, seeds are germinating, and eggs are hatching. it is a time to rebalance, break free, take risks, start new projects, and move forward.
Eggs are a potent symbol of the Spring Equinox, representing rebirth, fertility, immortality and creation, and the potential promise of life.
the name Easter was a variant of the German/Saxon fertility goddess Ostara/Eostre (also the root of the words estrus and estrogen).
this is an ideal time to decorate eggs, either hard boiled or blown, with symbols of balance or pictures of what you wish to bring into the world. the eggs can be used to decorate your Equinox altar or they can be buried in Grandmother Earth who hears the cries and dreams of Her children.

Equinoxe signifie « nuit égale ». cela se produit lorsque le soleil est positionné au-dessus de l’équateur, ce qui fait que le jour et la nuit sont de longueur égale partout dans le monde. L’équinoxe de printemps tombe autour du 20-23 mars et est un moment pour célébrer une nouvelle vie, l’espoir et l’activation du cycle de fertilité. En Irlande et dans d’autres régions tempérées du monde, les bourgeons éclatent, les graines germent et les œufs éclosent. c’est le moment de se rééquilibrer, de se libérer, de prendre des risques, de démarrer de nouveaux projets et d’aller de l’avant. Les œufs sont un symbole puissant de l’équinoxe de printemps, représentant la renaissance, la fertilité, l’immortalité et la création, ainsi que la promesse potentielle de la vie.
Le nom de Pâques est une variante de la déesse germano/saxonne de la fertilité Ostara / Eostre (également la racine des mots estrus et estrogen).

To celebrate Spring Equinox called Cónocht an Earraigh in Irish and as a priestess of Temple of the plants I shall be holding a Spring Equinox ceremony online on Tuesday 19th March.

Equinox is all about balance, inhale and exhale, dark and light, giving and receiving, restoring balance to self and all around us.

Join me as we travel within to find balance, to connect with the heart of humanity in deep compassion, exploring peace within ourselves to ripple out to the wider community.

Imbolc

Imbolc is celebrated on 1st February and marks the beginning of spring.
In temperate lands, the seeds are stirring in the ground, sap is rising, buds are forming, and bulbs are pushing through the soil. As the days lengthen, there is an urge to wake up and move forward, bringing through the visions and dreams that have been nurtured over the winter.
This is the festival of the Celtic Goddess Brigid, daughter of the Daghdha, Father God of the Tuatha De Danaan. Brigid (also known as Bride and Brid) is the Goddess in her maiden aspect. She is the Keeper of the Sacred Flame and the Holy Wells; Goddess of Poetry, Smithcraft, and Healing. She brings creative inspiration and is associated with fertility, midwifery, Fire, and Water.
This is a time for spring cleaning and to celebrate the renewal of life force. Connect with the seeds stirring in the dark soil, feel the seeds within yourself. What is preparing to sprout and grow? Consider and feed the ideas and dreams you have cultivated over the winter, making preparations for these to emerge.
