Enniscorthy Defibrillator Initiative

Enniscorthy Defibrillator Initiative Since then, the walk has been held annually with enough funds having been raised to install a further five defibrillators in the Enniscorthy area in 2017.

Enniscorthy Defibrillator Initiative is a community group set up to provide Enniscorthy town and surrounding areas with publicly accessible defibrillators and to train local people in their use to potentially save lives within the community. Enniscorthy Defibrillator Initiative was originally set up in 2016 by Michael Devereux when he organised a memorial walk in aid of his late brother Ger Devere

ux, who died suddenly in 2015. The money raised during the walk was to be used to install one defibrillator, but was so successful that it raised enough money to install three defibrillators that are now located in Milehouse, the Still and in Bellefield. To date in 2021, the Initiative is now managed by a small group of volunteers from the Enniscorthy area with over 15 defibrillators maintained by the group and over 200 local members of the public trained in their use through the funding raised. One of the largest projects for the initiative in 2021 has been the launch of a smartphone app in Co. Wexford called “PulsePoint”. The app, which was designed by the American based charity “Pulse Foundation”, was adapted to be used in Co. Wexford by our own volunteers in conjunction with Pulse Foundation to help members of the public locate their nearest defibrillator in an emergency. We are continuing to ask members of the public, local sports clubs, shops, and other local amenities to register their defibrillators with us so we can ensure they have been checked and maintained as well as being added to our PulsePoint app so they are easily found in an emergency.

Enniscorthy Defibrillator Initiative, is a voluntary initiative that owns and maintains 13 public access defibrillators around Enniscorthy. They also provide a free defibrillator checking service throughout the entire county and administer the PulsePoint AED app for the entire country.

Many of these defibrillators were installed a number of years ago and their batteries are coming due for replacement. Every time a defibrillator is used the pads which are placed on the patient's chest to deliver the shock need to be replaced and even if they never leave the packet they still need to be replaced every few years.

That's where you come in. Without your support, they can't purchase these life saving pads and batteries for the community or install new devices to widen our coverage in the area.

Any donations at all are appreciated and will go a long way.

We are today launching a fundraiser to help us maintain the THIRTEEN public access defibrillators we have installed around the Enniscorthy area to date.

The goal of this fundraiser is €5000, approximately how much funds are required to maintain our defibrillators for just ONE year!

As a completely voluntary and donation funded initiative, we now need the people of Enniscorthy to help us continue our work.

We would greatly appreciate any donations big or small!
