Clare Outdoor Club

Clare Outdoor Club Our activites include hillwalking, climbing, caving , kayaking and other outdoor pursuits. www.clareoutdoorclub.net We would be delighted to hear from you.

Clare Outdoor Club was founded in 1985 by a local group of outdoor enthusiasts. Along with hillwalking and rockclimbing our members have diverse interests such as kayaking, cycling, surfing, caving, sailing, running, etc. Based in Ennis, our calendar of walks from September to June takes us to the mountains of Kerry, Galway, Mayo, Tipperary and Waterford with occasional walks closer to home in Co

Clare and Co Limerick. Throughout the year we have weekends away in Ireland and abroad. The club is fortunate to have a large number of experienced leaders and members are encouraged to participate in training programmes such as Mountain Skills, Mountain Leader, and First Aid. We welcome new members, however be aware that our emphasis is on hill walks rather than low level rambles. You will find further information and advice on our website. If you would like to join the club or get in touch with us, please send an email.

What a fantastic day out for Clare Outdoor Club on the iconic Croagh Patrick.

Our group enjoyed a rewarding climb to the summit of Ireland's holy mountain, taking in the spectacular views over Clew Bay and the stunning Mayo coastline. It was another great day of hiking, friendship, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Best line of the day came when one of our members thought the priests on the mountain were on a stag party and that the two barefoot priests were only without shoes because they had lost a bet! ๐Ÿ˜„The group also attended Mass at the summit, adding a special spiritual element to the day's adventure and making the experience even more memorable.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined today's hike and helped make it such an enjoyable outing. We look forward to seeing you all on the next adventure. A special thanks to our leaders, Brian Loftus and Connie Oโ€™Halloran, for guiding the group and making the day such a success.โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿฅพโ›ฐ๏ธ

What a mighty weekend we had in Sligo! ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

A fantastic action-packed weekend filled with hiking, cycling, sea swimming, a relaxing seaweed bath, and great nights out in Sligo town.

Our hiking adventures included hiking Truskmore on Saturday, tackling Benbulben on Sunday, and finishing with Knocknarea on Monday. We also explored the fascinating Keash Caves, adding even more adventure to an unforgettable weekend.

A special highlight of the weekend was Fiona, our talented musician, who entertained us with a few tunes on the concertina, including the famous "Kesh Jig" while we were at the caves. It was a wonderful moment that added to the fun, laughter, and camaraderie of the trip.

A huge thank you to our walk leaders Sean Farrell, Martin Joe Tansey, Fiona Managan, Eilish Corbett, and Brian Loftus for leading the hikes and sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of the outdoors throughout the weekend.

A special thanks to Eilish Corbett for organising such a brilliant trip. Your hard work and dedication ensured everyone had a fantastic time and created memories that will last for years to come.

Here's to many more adventures together! โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿฅพโ›ฐ๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿป

Coumloughra Horseshoe - Some day on the Mcgillycuddys โ›ฐ๏ธ

Crossing the Beenkeragh Ridge, up Carrauntoohil and across Caher. What a route. Plenty of scrambling along the ridge, with unreal views that just didnโ€™t quit all day long.

And we had a lucky moment along the way, James found a set of keys, and by pure chance we managed to find the owner right at the end of the hike. Small miracle considering the size of the place.

Absolutely savage day in the mountains. Thank you James and Marie-Louise for leading today.๐Ÿ™‚

On our last full day before heading home, Group 1 tackled the magnificent Puig de Galatzรณ via the dramatic Pas de na Sabatera and Pas de sโ€™Encletxa routes. Day 4 of our holiday in Majorca ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

A well-earned rest day today with a split in the group, one crew headed off to Palma, while the other explored Alcรบdia.

Palma offered plenty of life with its marina, shops, and the stunning cathedral, while Alcรบdia delivered with its beautiful old town, cobbled streets, and historic walls, a real step back in time.

A perfect, relaxed day for everyone, enjoying different sides of the island before getting back to the hills tomorrow๐Ÿ’ช
