A major event in Limerick has brought Traveller leaders, Clare Local Development Company's Primary Healthcare Project Clare, MWRDAF, HSE and addiction services together to launch new, co-produced drug and alcohol awareness resources for Traveller communities across the Mid-West. The day also highlighted a wide range of free, confidential supports now available to Travellers and the wider public in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary. https://cldc.ie/traveller-drug-alcohol-supports-mid-west-2026/

Calling all book lovers and film fans in County Clare!
For Refugee Week 2026 (15–21 June), we’re building a community‑led list of books and films on this year’s theme: Courage – stories of culture, belonging, migration, resilience, identity and new beginnings.
You can suggest titles from any country, in any language. They don’t have to relate to your own culture – just books and films that inspired you, moved you, or opened your eyes.
Your recommendations will be shared through participating Clare libraries during Refugee Week.
Add your suggestions here: https://lnkd.in/d8iGXHqs

Are you on a committee or board in Clare and feeling a bit lost with governance and charity rules?

Our next Connecting Clare Communities online workshop is here to help. This free webinar will walk you through:

✅ Corporate governance basics for community and voluntary groups
✅ Different charity and company structures – and which might suit your group
✅ Simple steps to strengthen your organisation and reduce risk
✅ Time for questions about your own situation

CLDC was proud to showcase the Lahinch Seaworld Renewable Energy Project at the CAP Network Ireland 2023–2027 LEADER Capacity Building Workshop in Tullamore.
Our community-owned leisure centre in Lahinch has moved from heavy oil dependence to a fully renewable system – ground‑source heat pumps, geothermal boreholes and a 123 kWp solar PV array – cutting thermal energy use by 76% and saving around 220 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
As Siobhán Normoyle, CLDC LEADER Coordinator, told delegates, this is “a practical blueprint for rural leisure centres and community hubs facing rising energy costs and climate targets.” MORE: https://cldc.ie/lahinch-seaworld-renewable-energy-project-cldc-cap-network-leader/
