County Clare is European Volunteering Capital 2027 and we are looking forward to working with Clare Volunteer Centre in the jam packed year ahead.

The official launch takes place on Sept 24th in Treacys West County at 6pm and we hope to see some of you there

County Clare is European Volunteering Capital 2027 — and on 24 September we’re kicking things off with the Official Launch in Ennis.

Join us at Treacys West County Hotel at 6 p.m. for a first look at what’s ahead for 2027.

The evening will include the launch of clare2027.ie, volunteer stories, a preview of the 2027 programme, the European Volunteering Capital 2027 Ambassador Programme, a panel discussion, and an opportunity to share your ideas and help shape the year ahead.

You’ll also have the chance to meet organisations from across Clare and find out more about volunteering opportunities.

🚲 We were delighted to support the delivery of a Bicycle Mechanics Course in Co. Clare, funded through from LCETB

🏫 Delivered by tutors Lar and Marty from Bicycle Engineering Academy in Limerick and facilitated through the Programme of Clare Local Sports Partnership, the course provided targeted participants with practical, industry-focused bicycle mechanics training.

🎓 A fantastic achievement for all participants, who successfully completed the course and received a City & Guilds qualification.

🚴 This is a great example of partnership working to provide people with meaningful opportunities to develop new skills, gain recognised qualifications and build confidence for future employment and progression.

👏 Congratulations to all the participants, and a huge thank you to everyone involved in making the programme a success!

💡 📢 Great comradery and friendships were formed during the course and undoubtedly this will be harnessed into some interesting developments... already some exciting conversations have been started about where to take this to the next stage - so watch this space.

The weekend's damp conditions didn't deter the first ever game between Co Clare's newest Cricket teams - North Clare Cricket Club and the Clare Hurricanes from Kilrush.

This game, which took place in Lisdoonvarna community field as part of the Rekindle festival organised by Common Knowledge, invoked memories of years past when cricket would have been regularly played in the 'Spa' Town's Victorian Past. Taking place beside the 'Pavilion' Community Centre, a nod to Lisdoonvarna's historical link to Cricket.

📽To compliment the game Tim Madden, manager of the Michael Cusack Heritage Centre gave an insightful lecture on Cusacks love of the game, its history, both in Clare and countrywide, showcasing it's contempory popularity across all demographics in society prior to the Gaelic revival and the rise of the newly formed GAA.

🏐🏑Peter Casey from Clare GAA brought some young local hurlers to show the cricketers what they were missing! They enjoyed a curious exchange of bats and hurls and bowling balls and slioters for participants to inspect.

🏏Hugh Harvey-Kelly from Cricket was at hand to help facilitate the event with Clare Local Sports Partnership and the programme. It was an amazing event intertwining a sizable cohort of the North Clare community with the festival that otherwise may not have engaged with at all.

Special thanks to Common Knowledge for incorporating the event into the festival, and Cllr Joe Garrihy and Lisdoonvarna Fáilte CLG - North Clare Sports & Amenity Park for the logistical help.
