The time for prevention is now.

Cultural and societal change in Ireland is needed cultural and societal change is possible. We have a template – we radically changed our attitudes and behaviours around smoking, wearing of safety belts, and drink driving. We can do it for domestic abuse and coercive control.

Tomorrow we launch the Pledge for Prevention, a call to action for organisations, communities, and individuals to commit to early intervention, education, training and systemic change because domestic abuse

Haven Horizons is a national domestic abuse prevention centre working to shift Ireland’s response from crisis intervention to prevention.

Since 2018 Haven Horizons has donated over 80 books on domestic abuse and coercive control to libraries across Ireland. Book donations are one of our core prevention initiatives. We believe that books can change conversations and drive personal and societal change. We believe that knowledge is empowering.

Through interagency collaboration, third-level education, community awareness and policy change, we're working towards a future with zero tolerance of domestic abuse and coercive control. We create innovative prevention initiatives. We collaborate with partners to identify solutions that drive change. We challenge harmful social and cultural attitudes through awareness-raising and education.
