Ennis Tidy Towns (ETT) committee members were delighted to meet today with representatives of Clare County Council as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening communication, collaboration and partnership for the benefit of our town 🙌

A very positive discussion took place with Conor Leyden (Rural & Community Development Officer), Tom Mellett (Senior Executive Engineer) and Noel Mulcowray (Senior Executive Technician), exploring how Ennis Tidy Towns and Clare County Council can continue to work closely together on shared priorities for Ennis.

The conversation focused on practical collaboration, biodiversity, education, public spaces, community projects and identifying opportunities for future funding and support. There was a strong sense of shared purpose around the table and a recognition of the many positive initiatives already taking place across our town.

We greatly value the support and engagement of Clare County Council and look forward to continuing to build on these relationships, working together to enhance Ennis for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

A picture paints a thousand words… but it's the chats, laughter, banter, and teamwork that help us get through the incredible amount of work being done around Ennis each week🌼🐝

Over the past few weeks, our amazing volunteers have been out multiple evenings caring for roundabouts, gardens, streets, paving areas, memorial parks, and so many of our treasured community spaces. From the Garden of Remembrance to Cusack Road, Abbey Street, Cloughleigh and beyond, every helping hand has made a difference.

It's wonderful to see such a diverse group of volunteers from all corners of the world coming together for one shared purpose - taking pride in and beautifying our town🌍

Along the way, we've received countless waves, smiles, and words of encouragement from passing motorists and pedestrians, which always gives us a lift ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has turned up with gloves, tools, good humour, and community spirit. The welcoming appearance of these areas is a credit to you all.

Now, enjoy the photos - they tell the story far better than words ever could📸🐝

🌻 They planted it. They nurtured it. They shared it🌻

2 months ago, our Ennis Junior Tidy Towns members planted sunflower seeds 🌱. Since then, they have watered 💦 , nurtured, and cared for each plant, observing them grow taller each day.
This week, those same sunflowers 🌻 found new homes with the Ennis Old Folks Group for the second consecutive year.
Each flower 🪴 was carefully wrapped and included a special message 💬 . However, what makes this project truly meaningful is the lesson behind it: patience, care, community, and kindness❤️.

Our young members didn't just grow 🌻s-they grew something to share❤️.

A huge Thank You to ALL our young volunteers and to Mary with Bella for helping us spread a little sunshine once again💛🌻

✨ From worn out to wonderful ✨
What an incredible transformation for our town 💛
These beautifully restored benches by Ennis Tidy Towns & the Men’s Shed are now proudly installed along the River Walk and at Holy Family School 🐝
Each bench was sanded, repaired, repainted, and carefully brought back to life — with some original Ennis logo seats preserved as a special part of the town’s history.
This project is a fantastic example of community spirit, teamwork, and local pride, creating a wonderful new amenity for walkers, families, students, and visitors to enjoy.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making it happen 🌟

🐝Did you know that Ireland is home to 99 wild bee species (100 including honey bees!) with 1/3 of those facing extinction?

🐝Every year, World Bee Day highlights the importance of bees and other pollinators in our food production and the health of our planets ecosystems, drawing attention to the need to use sustainable practices that benefit biodiversity.

Some examples of direct ways you can support bees and other pollinators this season are:

🐝Participating in No Mow May and Slow Mow Summer. This allows wildflowers that are critical food sources for insects to flourish.
🐝Step back from pesticide use. Pesticides marketed for "pest insects/plants" are often non-selective and harm all insects and animals that rely on insects for food and poison the plants beneficial insects like bees feed on.
🐝Plant a native wildflower garden. Be sure that the seeds you are getting are sourced in your region to ensure you are not accidentally introducing invasive plants.
🐝Build a bug hotel. Many native bee species are solitary, which means they do not build hives or live in groups like honey bees. These native bee populations are critical to a healthy ecosystem, so lend them a hand and build them a home in your garden.

What are you doing to support bees and pollinators this season?
