Just Hopping by to say HelloπŸ‡πŸ‡πŸ‡

Take a moment to admire this gorgeous new addition to Dunshaughlin, beautifully painted by the very talented Sophie May Cottrell on one of the roadside utility boxes. 🌻🌻🌻🌻 Dunshaughlin is Blooming in time for MCC Pride of Place 🌻🌻🌻🌻

The Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns team is thrilled to announce that our revamped Friendship Garden is now complete. With beautiful new planting and handcrafted timber seating and planters installed just in time, we were delighted to show it off for the Meath County Council "Pride of Place" competition. The two adjudicators, Hoda & Niamh were highly impressed with all aspects of the initiative.

During a whistle-stop tour, we guided the adjudicators through some of our favourite local spots - from the seating at Gallows Hill to Sophie May's dalmatian at Lagore Road. From our dedicated work in the Park, the flower beds, the fruit trees and the pocket forest to the vibrant wheelbarrow planted at the Arch. From the Dublin Road, along Main Street to the Navan Road, the sparkle of summer colour from the hanging baskets and planters is a delight.

We hope the whole community enjoys these wonderful additions and feels the Pride of Place we all share in Dunshaughlin. A huge thank you to all our volunteers & residents for having the town looking its absolute best in this glorious summer weather.

Shoutout to the incredibly talented Sophie May Cottrell

Next time you're driving or walking down Lagore Road, make sure to slow down and take a look at one of the utility boxes. Sophie May Cottrell, aged 13, has completely transformed it into a piece of art just to bring a little joy to our community.

She painted a beautiful Dalmatian who sits there watching everybody pass by! It's such a lovely, creative addition to the junction and a wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to have people who want to make our community a brighter place.

Thank you, Sophie May, for sharing your wonderful talent and putting a smile on our faces! 🀩🀩🀩

Exciting Project Update from the Tidy Towns Team!

We are absolutely thrilled to give you a sneak peek at our brand-new Friendship Garden, located right in the beautiful grounds of St. Patrick's Hall.

This project is a true community effort and we want to extend a massive thank you to Paul Rattigan who designed the garden and AodhΓ‘n Englishby of Custom Creations (www.customcreationsireland.ie) for all the new structures.

Custom Creations have crafted a stunning array of woodwork for the garden, introducing a colourful range of upgraded old barrels for seating and planting, while also restoring and painting some of the existing structures, giving them a vibrant new lease on life.

We have already installed lovely new seating areas and fresh planting zones, all designed to make this space as warm, peaceful and welcoming for our community as possible.

The Friendship Garden now features natural stones in three distinct colours, carefully arranged to introduce organic tones to the space. These varied stones create a backdrop that contrasts with the surrounding greenery & timber structures. All together, we hope that the garden will symbolise the diverse and lasting nature of Friendship 🌺🌺🌺

The garden is still a work in progress, but with more new planting and a beautiful new water feature on the way, we are so excited to see it fully come to life. We really hope you will wander down to St. Patrick's Hall to take a look & watch it grow.

A Massive Thank-You to Dunshaughlin Grapevine

The Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns volunteers would like to extend a shout-out and huge thanks to the fantastic sponsors of the Grapevine for the months of March & April.

March Sponsors - a big thank you to the team at Peak Fitness Gym πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹οΈπŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ (www.dunshaughlincommunitycentre.ie) for kicking off our spring season with your generous support.

April Sponsor - a massive thanks to Black Bush Golf Club πŸŒοΈπŸŒοΈβ€β™€οΈπŸŒοΈ(www.blackbushgolfclub.ie) for keeping our momentum going strong in April.

Without these vital funds, Tidy Towns couldn't do the work we do. Every euro goes directly into adding more sparkle, colour and pride to our beautiful town - whether that's through new planting, upkeep or community initiatives.

With a little Help from our Friends πŸ‘πŸ‘

As Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns Volunteers prepare for the arrival of Pride of Place and SuperValu National Tidy Towns Adjudicators, it was most appreciated that we could call on our friends from Meath Volunteer Centre (www.volunteermeath.ie) for a helping hand.

A group of six members together with their co-ordinator Emma Insley carried out major clean-up activities along the Dublin Road. They cleaned the edges of both the footpaths and the roadside, removing weeds and smoothing the edges of the grass verge. They worked from ColΓ‘iste RΓoga to The Willows on the east side and from Rath Hill Lane to Seachnall Abbey on the west side.

Sometimes the tasks undertaken by Tidy Town Volunteers need the support of the people who care enough to give their time. A huge thank-you to Emma and her crew, your hard work has made a visible difference to Dunshaughlin.

🌟🌟🌟 Adding Summer Sparkle to Dunshaughlin 🌟🌟🌟

The Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns team has been hard at work adding some vibrant summer sparkle to the town!. Over three weeks ago, our dedicated volunteers completely cleared out the existing perennial plants and spent compost from all of the containers along Main Street.

Each planter has since been refilled with fresh, nutrient-rich compost and a beautiful selection of summer bedding plants, including stunning dahlias, cascading begonias, lobelias & sweet alyssum. We are absolutely thrilled with the results and feel that these bursts of colour will bring a wonderful touch of sunshine to the community.

This massive effort required some additional hands and Tidy Towns would like to thank Emma Insley and volunteers from Meath Volunteer Centre (www.volunteermeath.ie) who generously gave their time and hard work to help us beautify our community.

Our volunteers also added a beautiful splash of colour and a little extra sparkle with an array of hanging baskets. Their hard work and community spirit have transformed the area, turning our main street into a welcoming, blooming showcase for everyone to enjoy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Picker Picnic Monday ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Huge thanks to all those who braved the damp morning to assist the Tidy Towns Volunteers with a clean up of the village. After collecting litter pickers and bags from the Court House, they set off to collect roadside rubbish from designated areas.

Once the clean-up was completed all the new recruits gathered in Dunshaughlin Park for a fun filled hour of entertainment provided by magician, SeΓ‘n Hegarty. While not quite pulling any rabbits out of his hat, SeΓ‘n captivated the audience with a variety of "tricks of the trade". He was ably assisted by members of the audience in providing his magic.

The Tidy Towns Group were delighted to provide much needed refreshments for all the recruits. Thanks to Dunshaughlin Supervalu for providing the goodies for the kiddies. It is wonderful to experience the support from the community with enhancing the environment for all to enjoy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌞🌞🌞 National Volunteer Week 2026 🌞🌞🌞

Our celebration of National Volunteer Week continued last week with two more groups of eager participants assisting us with our
activities.

On Wednesday evening (20th May), 17 Beaver Scouts and their
mentors cleaned up the car park at St. Patrick and St.
Seachnall's Church. They also removed weeds, dirt and grit from the footpaths on Johnstown Lane. With all tasks completed, Tidy Town Volunteers were delighted to treat the group to some refreshments courtesy of a complimentary Hamper received from Meath Volunteer Centre. (www.volunteermeath.ie)

On Thursday evening (21st May), 17 Brownies came to Dunshaughlin Park to transform the car park area. They carried out the difficult task of removing the extensive growth of grass and weeds along the kerbs. Once completed, Volunteers were pleased
to host a "Picnic in the Park" for them again availing of the Hamper from Meath Volunteer Centre. The parents and guardians of the Brownies did a whip around and kindly presented a donation to the Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns group. 🌞🌞🌞
