We are delighted to let you all know that darkness into light Dunleer 2026, raised and astonishing €6069 from this year's event. As always we are absolutely blown away by all your support and cannot thank you all enough for your generosity 💛 the money we raised as a community will go along way in providing support to those who really need it 💛

Our committee would also like to thank all who volunteered and helped out on the night , yous helped make the morning a huge success, in particular we would like to extend our gratitude to an garda siochana, Electric Ireland , Alan Shearman, Fanfruit, intaspace, The Market House, Dunleer Fire Brigade, DCDB, CE workers, Patrick Mulroy the residents of Dunleer.

What a special morning we shared with you all this morning 💛

Darkness into Light is an incredibly moving event and this year was no exception 😊😊

We are so grateful that you chose to spend the most important sunrise of the year together with us here in Dunleer 🌅

We want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you, your support has raised awareness for su***de prevention..

This morning our community showed up and spread that most important message that- YOU ARE NOT ALONE !!🫂

💛The reflective mile... Your time to reflect ...enjoy this moment along with many others along the way ..

We are so excited to see you all ... It's looking like we will enjoy a gorgeous sunrise together , but wrap up well , it might still be chilly 🔥...

Don't forget to join us for a cuppa afterwards behind the markethouse ...it's always nice to catch up 💛

2 DAYS TO GO !!!!💛💛It's all systems go as our committee get ready for this year's Darkness into light event 💛💛💛

Here’s a helpful checklist to help you prepare for Darkness into Light Event in Dunleer.

✍🏻 Register here -http://www.darknessintolight.ie
📅 The date is Saturday 09th May 2025
⌚️ Aim to arrive for 4.00am
💬 There’ll be some short speeches before we start
⏰ The walk starts at 4.15am sharp
📍 We start and finish at the market House Dunleer
🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ We asked that runners present themselves to the front of the line
🐶 And dogs are very welcome once they are on a short lead and p**p is scooped!
☔️Warm and Waterproof clothing is a good idea (let's hope the rain stays off!!)
🚙 No parking in the Market house as it is too close to the event.
🚾 Toilet facilities available in the Market House
🍵 ☕️ Refreshments will be available afterwards in the courtyard behind the Market House
🚵‍♀️ there will be cyclists in front to lead the walk , so follow the lead and stay safe , mind the footpaths and crossover between the two housing estate on the route. 🚨Be mindful of the new narrowing of the road down on the dundalk road approaching Darby's petrol station.
🏥 First aid Response will be available in the market house should any first aid incidents arise, Flag down your nearest Steward for assistance to this location.

💛 look out for one another, it is an emotional time for many of us, smile and nod at your fellow walkers , have a chat or join them as they walk and reflect. Simply let them know , you are walking with them , you are walking for them , to help them or there loved ones find a way out of the dark 💛

We are amazed by you. 💛

Together, you raised €100,000 in 24 hours, and thanks to Electric Ireland doubling donations, that means €200,000 for Pieta’s su***de and self-harm prevention services.

€200,000 because you shared your pages, asked your friends and family, and gave what you could.

This means we can answer more calls, provide more therapy sessions, and support more people who reach out, and it’s all because of you.

Today is the day. 💛

Thanks to the generosity of Electric Ireland, every donation made to Pieta’s Darkness Into Light will be doubled for the next 24 hours, up to a total of €100,000.

Whether you donate directly, support someone fundraising, or give when signing up, every euro will go twice as far. That means if someone donates €10, Pieta receives €20, helping keep Pieta’s su***de and self-harm prevention services available to people who need them.

From free crisis counselling to Pieta’s 24-Hour Crisis Helpline, the majority of Pieta’s services are funded by public generosity.
