Have Your Say: Ireland’s Water Future

Ireland is preparing its next Water Action Plan (2028–2033) — and your voice matters.

Every six years, EU Member States review and update plans to protect and improve our water environment. As part of this process, a public consultation is now open on the Significant Water Management Issues (SWMI) affecting our rivers, lakes, and coastal waters.

This consultation helps identify the key challenges and pressures on our water quality — and will directly shape the actions and measures included in the next Water Action Plan.

We want to hear from you
- Share your views on the issues identified
- Highlight any additional concerns
- Help inform solutions for protecting Ireland’s water environment

Complete the short online questionnaire or submit your feedback by email or post. You can respond to as many or as few questions as you like up to the deadline of 5pm, 19 June 2026. 👉https://ow.ly/c28F50Z64z1

By taking part, you’ll play a role in shaping how Ireland protects and manages its water for years to come.

🌿 What does it take to move nature restoration from regulation to implementation?

Two years after the adoption of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation, Member States are preparing their national restoration plans. Funding will be one of the biggest tests of whether those plans can deliver.

On 11 June 2026, EuroNatur and CEE Bankwatch Network will launch a new report with national cost estimates for effective nature restoration in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Hungary and Croatia.

The hybrid event, hosted by MEP César Luena at the European Parliament and online, will share findings from the study, lessons learned and areas for improvement. It will also look at what biodiversity budget planning means for national governments, EU decision makers and local implementers.
