👜 The Winter Handbag Project – A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way ❤️

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to change the world — just a little kindness and a caring heart.

This year, alongside our Winter Aid Truck and Christmas Shoebox Appeal, we’re inviting you to join our newest initiative — the Winter Handbag Project.
Simply take a handbag you no longer use and fill it with small, thoughtful items — things like soap, socks, a scarf, perfume, reading glasses, or hand cream — and help bring warmth, comfort, and dignity to someone who truly needs it.

📦 You can drop off your donations at any Rocksalt Restaurant — in Blackrock, Dundalk, or Carrickmacross — or at the AOH Hall in Blackrock during our final collection week: from Saturday, 1th November until Saturday, 8th November, before they join the Winter Aid Truck on its journey to Romania and Ukraine.

Because a simple handbag can carry more than things — it can carry hope. 💛

🎁 The Christmas Shoebox Appeal – Small Boxes, Big Hearts ❤️

A simple shoebox can travel thousands of miles — and change a child’s Christmas completely.

Every year, as part of our Winter Aid Truck, we collect thousands of shoeboxes filled with small gifts for children in Romania and Ukraine. For many of them, it’s the only present they’ll receive all year.

Each box carries a message of love — from one child to another, from one family to another. Inside can be simple things: toys, school supplies, hats, scarves, or toothbrushes — small items that bring huge joy.

This is your chance to make a real difference. 🫶
Join our Christmas Shoebox Appeal by preparing a shoebox at home or through your school, and help us spread the word so even more children can feel remembered this Christmas.

From Ireland With Love – Where the Winter Aid Truck Goes ❤️

Every box, every blanket, every tin of food you donate has a destination — and a story waiting at the end of the road.

When the Winter Aid Truck leaves Blackrock each November, it travels almost 3,000 kilometres to reach Romania and Ukraine, where our Crosscause teams and volunteers are waiting. Together, they bring your donations straight to families, older people, and children who are struggling through harsh winters, poverty, and — in Ukraine’s case — the heartbreak of war.

In villages where heating is scarce and cupboards are empty, your kindness arrives like a ray of light. A simple box of food can feed a family for a week. A blanket can mean a warm night’s sleep. And a bar of soap or shampoo can restore someone’s dignity and hope.

This is what your generosity makes possible. ❤️

🚛 The Winter Aid Truck 2025 – Keeping Hope Moving This Winter ❄️

For over ten years, our Winter Aid Truck has travelled from Ireland to Romania and Ukraine, bringing comfort to those facing freezing winters and difficult times.
Each year, thanks to your kindness, the truck is filled with long-lasting food, hygiene products, warm clothes, and everyday essentials — simple things that mean the world to families who have so little.

This project is more than a delivery of goods — it’s a delivery of hope. Every bag of rice, every bar of soap, every tin of beans helps someone get through another cold night.

Now, as we begin this year’s collection, we’re asking for your help once again.
If you can, please donate dry food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, or warm items like towels and blankets — and help us spread the word in your community.

We’ll be collecting donations from Saturday, 1st November until Saturday, 8th November — when the truck sets off from Blackrock, carrying your kindness across borders.

🎒✨💪 Irish Schools Helping Ghanaian Classrooms!

A big thank-you to Mayo County Council, Sharon Cameron, Environmental Awareness Officer, and all the incredible schools, teachers, and volunteers who helped gather and load a full 40-foot container of school books and furniture bound for Ghana.

These desks and books will soon find new homes in schools across the Ho Region, giving hundreds of children a better place to learn — and showing how reusing what we already have can truly change lives. 🌍💛

From Bombs to Belonging ❤️ A Week of Stories Where You Can Make a Change!

Imagine being five years old and having to leave everything you know because of war. That’s Sofia’s story.

She fled Ukraine with her older sister Elena and now lives at Casa Bridget, our Crosscause-supported home in Romania. Sofia is safe now—but safety doesn’t erase trauma. Loud noises still terrify some of the children we shelter. The memories of bombs, fear, and confusion don’t fade easily.

Elena, just 26 and living with her own disability, helps care for our residents with special needs—offering kindness and support even as she struggles herself. Their courage reminds us that even in the darkest times, people can still shine.

These children and families need more than a roof over their heads. They need healing, routine, and a chance to feel human again. And that’s what we try to offer—every single day.

This week, we’re sharing real stories from Romania and Ghana to show how you can be part of something meaningful.

𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙖

Not long ago, we got a message from Nelson—a kind, organised man doing his best to support 48 adults (many with children) who were cured of leprosy but left behind by society.

They’ve overcome the illness—but not the judgment. Work is scarce, opportunities are closed off, and finding enough food each day is a constant worry.

So, we stepped in.

With the help of local volunteers, we now deliver food to the village every month—rice, bread, canned goods, and hygiene items. Each delivery costs €1,000 and brings dignity, fairness, and real relief. So far, we’ve made two trips, and every time we’re welcomed with open arms—especially by the children ❤️

Nelson keeps it all running smoothly and never lets anyone fall through the cracks.

This is just one of many ways Crosscause is helping those most in need.

This month, a young girl named Elizabeth found her way to safety. Trafficked from Nigeria and trapped in months of fear and suffering, she was finally rescued and brought to the Xorladi Centre—a place built for moments like this.

Today, Elizabeth is safe. She’s surrounded by care, kindness, and the chance to simply be a child again.

This is why Xorladi exists.
Not just as a shelter—but as a home, a second chance, and a symbol of what we can achieve when we care enough to act.
