You can now apply for the 2027 Creative Residency Programme until Friday July 3rd at 5pm!

Check out our previous artists-in-residence as they reflect on their time being a part of our Creative Residency Programme and share their experiences of the residency.

If you're a filmmaker, writer, musician, visual artist, dancer, actor, performer, or creative practitioner of any discipline, and based in the North East, we invite you to apply!

The programme offers a supportive professional environment, including three months of studio space and a living stiped, giving artists the time and space and resources to develop their practice.

✨On Wednesday night we gathered in the Basement Gallery to celebrate the launch of award-winning pole dancer and visual artist Arlene Caffrey's debut solo exhibition - S*X! DEVIANCE! DANGER!

Director Paul Hayes says "Part of the ethos of An Táin Art's Centre is to give emerging artists the chance to exhibit. I'm delighted to give Arlene Caffrey her first professional solo art exhibit."

The exhibition runs until 18th July, with a closing performance at 3pm on Saturday 18th July. All sales are handled through our Box Office. Basement Gallery and Box Office opening hours are Tues-Sat, 10am-4pm.

A huge thank you to The Argus for the wonderful feature on Noirland, an exciting offsite promenade performance presented by Chalk On The Wall Productions and An Táin Arts Centre.

We are thrilled to present the director of Noirland, Calvin Magee, ahead of our sold out opening night show this evening 🎭

Calvin Magee is an experienced theatre director, youth theatre practitioner, and socially engaged artist from Dundalk, Co. Louth. His practice is rooted in the values of community, access, and play, creating spaces where people can explore ideas, stories, and lived experiences through theatre. His directing practice spans ensemble-led devising, physical theatre, documentary and verbatim theatre, and cabaret performance, with a strong focus on building rigorous, supportive, and collaborative creative environments. Recent work includes M.A.D Youth Theatre’s production Beyond the Border and Nenagh Arts Centre’s Nenagh: Our Town, Our Story.

In 2025, Calvin was Theatre-Maker in Residence at An Táin Arts Centre, where he explored the role theatre can play in supporting communities to examine and engage with local issues in safe, creative, and playful ways.

And finally, before we kick off our first show today at 5pm, it's time to introduce the last member of our cast...

Meet Leah Rossiter who plays Joan Scully 🎭

Originally from Drogheda Leah is a graduate of D.k.I.T where she received a B.A. in Performing Arts. Leah is the Company Manager of Quintessence Theatre as well as an actor and has performed in a number of their productions, most recently: Albert and various roles in The Curious Case of Albert Cashier (National Tour), Peg in The Mid Night Scalping of Peg Carroll (Droichead), Kate in The Star of Chesters Lane (Droichead) Jonathan Harker in Dracula (Smock Alley, Dublin), Leanne in Cracks (National Tour) and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (An Táin Arts Centre).

Leah received funding from Screen Ireland under the Actor as Creator scheme in 2020 for her film Locked In, which she directed and starred in. Locked In has screened in multiple film festivals across Ireland.

The countdown is officially on for our summer production of 'Goldilocks and the 3 Planets' taking place off site at Anaverna House, Ravensdale. 🚀🪐🌕☄️

📅 5th - 9th August | 1pm, 3pm & 5pm
🎟️ Tickets €15 Adults / €10 Child / €40 Family Pass (2 adult + 2 child tickets OR 1 adult + 3 child tickets) (+€1.50 booking fee per ticket per person)

Earth is getting a little too hot, so Goldilocks is sent on a mission to use her expert exploring skills to find a brand-new home for humankind — a planet that’s not too hot, not too cold, but juuuust right.

But things don’t go quite to plan when Baby Bear and a very peculiar tree — insist on coming along for the ride... Goldilocks must figure out what “just right” really means, and whether a perfect planet is something you find, or something you take care of.

We're counting down the hours to Noirland... and it's time to meet another member of our incredible cast!

Meet Cathal Mooney who plays James Maguire 🎭

Based in Drogheda, Cathal Mooney joined Chalk on the Wall Productions after completing his BA in Theatre and Film, and BA Hons in Drama and Performance at DkIT. During his studies, Cathal starred in a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2024) and Doctor Fell (2023) as the titular character. He wrote and performed One More Day (2025), a solo piece looking at the struggles of men’s mental health. Cathal also worked Terminus (2023), The Lost Pages: A Tale from the Tome of Many Worlds (2025), and Nowhen (2025).
