“A person can go without many things, but not water. Water is not only for drinking. We need it for cooking, cleaning, bathing, for everything in our lives.”

After 13 years of displacement, Khaled returned home to Kafr Sajnah, Syria, with his wife and six children.

But without a reliable water supply, his family can spend up to US$45 each month on private water deliveries.

With funding from the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF), managed by United Nations OCHA, GOAL is rehabilitating eight water stations and networks, helping restore more reliable water services for approximately 15,600 people.

For Khaled, safe water means being able to rebuild life at home with greater dignity and safety.

Last Friday, more than 440 schools and workplaces across Ireland took part in GOAL Jersey Day 2026, proudly supported by Premier Sports 👕

We loved seeing the variety of colours, jerseys and smiles across our feeds as supporters came together through their shared love of sport to support GOAL’s work with communities affected by crisis around the world.

Thanks to your support, more than €55,000 has been raised so far, and there’s still time to get involved.

Empowering communities, one trained leader at a time.

With support from the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF), managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs UN Humanitarian, GOAL is training community leaders across Ma’arrat An Nu’man, Saraqab and Sanjar in Syria.

So far, 91 community leaders, 53 women and 38 men, have taken part in three monthly training sessions covering the recognition and referral of malnutrition, the Family Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) approach, maternal nutrition, and maternal, infant and young child nutrition.

Community leaders can then share this knowledge within their communities, helping to increase awareness, recognise signs of malnutrition and connect people with appropriate support.

Through SHF funding, knowledge gained through training can reach beyond the people in the room and into the wider community.
