⚓ Heritage Week 2026 at Dún Laoghaire Harbour!

The Dunleary Lifeboat Project is holding an Open Day this Sunday, 23rd August, giving visitors the chance to get up close to the historic Dunleary Lifeboat and learn more about her remarkable story.

Come along to see the restoration work, explore the displays and original artefacts, and hear about the history of this important piece of Dún Laoghaire’s maritime heritage.

Our volunteers will be available throughout the afternoon to answer questions and share the story behind this unique community project.

Notice of AGM – The Dunleary Project

You’re very welcome to join us for the Annual General Meeting of The Dunleary Project, which will take place on:

The AGM is a chance to look back on the past year, share updates on the project, and chat about plans for the year ahead. We’ll also cover committee roles and give everyone an opportunity to have their say.
Whether you’ve been closely involved or are simply interested in the project, you’re very welcome to come along. We’d love to see you there and catch up with friends old and new.

A huge thank you to everyone who dropped by our Heritage Week open day event on Saturday.

The Dunleary was looking her finest, and we were thrilled to welcome all the visitors throughout the afternoon.

It was wonderful to see people connect with the story of the Dunleary and share memories, questions, and encouragement. Events like these remind us just how much this boat means to the community.

Big thanks to our volunteers and supporters who helped make the day such a success — and to The Heritage Council and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for their continued support of the restoration of the historic lifeboat exRNLB Dunleary.

Onwards with the restoration – and we’ll see you again soon!

Amazing progress being made on the ex RNLB Dunleary. Thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who have been putting in a lot of hours bringing her back to life. Lots more work to do but she is starting to look like a lifeboat again. The first picture is how she looked when she first arrived back in Dun Laoghaire harbour in 2017..we’ve come a long way since then!
