At the SCOOP Foundation we believe in empowering marginalised and displaced youth to fulfil their potential. We foresee an inclusive world where all young people have equal access to education and opportunities for a sustainable future. Our SCOOP Ed programme focuses on helping vulnerable people through personal, academic, and job-seeking support. From subjects in Art, IT, English, Mindfulness, an
d Music etc. we hope that SCOOP Ed will provide these young people with the skills they need to shape a promising future. SCOOP Recruit is a pre-employment training programme for job seekers living in Direct Provision in Ireland. It is mainly delivered online to circumvent barriers relating to travel and access to centres. The programme empowers people seeking asylum to secure employment, internships & voluntary work. Our Artist Residency Programme aims at artists currently or previously living in the Direct Provision system in Ireland. It is an opportunity for the participant to enhance and develop their skills and art practice in Ireland. It also provides an opportunity to network with other artists. We recently launched two pilot programmes to support our fundraising efforts:
Our latest programme SCOOP Kitchen focuses on the growing crisis of homelessness. As a pilot, we have initially launched this programme in Dublin. Through SCOOP Kitchen, we have partnered with renowned Irish restaurants to raise funds which will help to run a training kitchen for those at risk of becoming homeless. The cycle is complete when the participating restaurants hire the programme participants to help them start a new and life-changing career! Outside The Box is our latest art-driven fundraiser featuring artworks from Ireland’s top street and contemporary artists who have created a one-of-a-kind craft pizza box canvas. Every month a copy of one of the original artworks will feature on Dublin Pizza Company’s specially-printed pizza boxes where customers can scan the QR code on the pizza box to buy a limited-edition print of the featured piece via the SCOOP Store. The funds raised from the sale of these limited-edition prints will aid in the development and delivery of SCOOP Ed. Our focus is to expand SCOOP Ed and create an online classroom to educate young refugees living in and beyond displacement camps who face an uncertain future.
