Sharing food is love! So why not spend the “day of love” making food?

Ideally, we would love to celebrate love every day of the year, but as long as that’s not the case, why not choose an alternative that doesn’t support consumerism (and for which you don’t need a date). But you’re more than welcome to bring one. Or two! Or as many as you want!

The focus will be on pickles, so on that beautiful day you’ll leave our event not only with a full heart but with some jars of pickles to take home with you as well. We will provide the jars and ingredients, but feel free to bring anything you’d like. We will prioritise vegetables that are currently in season and that we can source from Irish farmers.

This is a masked event. FFP2 respirator masks will be provided.

☆ When ☆
Saturday 14th of February from 2pm to 5pm.

☆ Where ☆
137th Balally Scout Den, Wedgewood, Dublin 16 (near the Beacon Hospital).

☆ What ☆
Community skill-share on pickling our food! More info on Eventbrite/flyPost.

☆ Accessibility Information ☆

In person:
- Ramp access available at the front door.
- However, if coming by public transport there is a section without footpaths.
- There is no accessible bathroom in the den, but there are facilities in neighbouring buildings.
- A quiet(er) area will be available.
- HEPA filters will be running to clean the air.
- Rated masks (FFP2) and hand sanitiser will be provided.

Virtual:
- Any demonstrations will be as high contrast and magnified as possible.
- Captions will be turned on.
- A quiet (breakout) room will be available.

We would love to see you there! ♡

"When people imagine alternatives together, they build resilience". Putting pen to paper as a community is our literal interpretation of this - positive futures are so much easier to imagine when you can see them drawn out in front of you!

Heavily inspired by 's "Bad Art For Good", we're gathering to create, envision and explore what a hopeful future could look like through the medium of art.

When:
Saturday 24th January from 2pm to 5pm

Where:
137th Balally Scout Den, Wedgewood, Dublin 16 (near the Beacon Hospital)

What:
See our flyPost for more details, or read the info pack in our bio!

Let's nurture a kinder world together, one poorly drawn but hopeful message at a time 🎁

* moved online due to illness *

Please join us for a low-spoons introduction to mending and repairing textiles as we practice what we preach and keep our community safe from airborne illness 🤍 We'll be moving this offering to run solely through Zoom, but we have a lovely local venue and a hybrid offering of the same workshop in the back pocket for the second half of January! 🧵

We'll have more access info on the event up in our linktree shortly. Until then, grá mór from our beds to yours 🌻

We were very lucky (or unlucky!) to have a few broken bikes in our community, and had our first impromptu event held in University College Dublin back in June where we learned the very basics of bike repairs! 🚲

You could say bike repair 101, with bike repair 201 on the mind for sometime in the future 😊

~~~~~
What skills did we learn? 📝
- How to use a bike repair station
- How to repair a punctured tire
- How to diagnose break woes; tightening, replacing break pads, and realignment
- Chain maintenance
- Bike engraving
We’re proud to join the Ireland Against Racism Carnival on Saturday 27th September at 1pm from Loopline Bridge and we need as many of you as possible to show up and stand in solidarity with our neighbours.
Black liberation is q***r liberation. Migrant justice is disability justice. Your presence matters. Your voice matters. Show up loud, proud, and united.
If crowds are inaccessible to you, please still take action:
• Amplify organisations at the forefront of driving change. , , and are but a few of them. Listen, learn, and then act. Gorm have resources on how to handle racism effectively when you see it - start there!
• Host local actions - ask your local communities what they need and provide it.
• Contact your elected representatives. Demand an end to Direct Provision. Demand your County Council to stop their destruction of tents.
We stand firmly with all oppressed peoples. Let's celebrate the strength, spirit, and joy of united communities, and demand justice for all, together.
Ní neart go cur le chéile ✊
June, Ennistymon, Co. Clare
Reminiscing over the beauty, warmth, and community we met at the Q***r Sheds co-design residency 🌾
Thank you Fionn and Aoife for organising, to Common Knowledge for hosting us, to Q***r Sheds Clare for leading the way, and to every Q***r Shed across Ireland for creating this heartwarming and welcoming community that we are so honoured to now be a part of ❤️
·⋆──♡──⋆·
What did we do over the weekend?
☆ We brainstormed together, exploring our shared values, understanding how we can support each other, and what resources we might need to get started 🌱
☆ We shared stories from our q***r heritage, our native tongue, and our ancient traditions 🪡
☆ We nurtured our relationship with the land, exploring restorative practices, and environmentally conscious land stewardship 🐦‍⬛
☆ We created workshop programmes, planned our next steps, and built connections 🪉
·⋆──♡──⋆·
What's next?
We want to hear from you! What skills would you like to learn together? What does a q***r shed mean to you?
We'll have more lines of communication open in the future but for now please drop us a message or comment below!
