CCTV in Ireland is in widespread use and there is an increased demand to have access to third-party CCTV systems to tackle a range of offences, including drug-related crimes, vehicle and property crimes, and public-order offences.

Today, An Garda Síochána has launched a public consultation for a draft Code of Practice on third-party live Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) feeds – ie CCTV footage made by a controller who is a third party to An Garda Síochána and which is provided as a monitor feed to An Garda Síochána. The aim of the Code of Practice is to provide further detail on the general operation of third-party live CCTV feeds - and An Garda Síochána is now seeking input on it from members of the public.

Click here to read more about the public consultation, download the draft Code of Practice and submit your feedback ➡️

Feedback must be submitted by 14 September 2026.
