Recreate Ireland

Recreate Ireland ReCreate is an award winning social enterprise, based in Dublin, Ireland, focused on creative re-use.

Materials are collected and stored at our colourful warehouse for members to access for creative reuse. ReCreate is a successful social enterprise whose core goals are to foster creativity, promote social inclusion and make a positive environmental impact. We do this by collecting unused an unwanted materials form industry and distributing them to our members as affordable art supplies. We also de

sign and deliver arts educational programmes that are delivered across all sectors of society and provide valuable work experience and employment opportunities to adults with additional needs or who are distant from the labour market. Once becoming a member groups have unlimited access to the materials made available to them, allowing these groups to flourish without having to worry about budget restrictions. Our workshop programmes help both adults and children understand the previous life the materials may have had and also the endless possibilities that they can be used for in the future, by promoting a concept that we call Creative Reuse. By partnering with Irish suppliers who have materials they no longer need, we ensure they do not end up in landfill. We collect these materials and bring them back to our warehouse where instead they become part of a circular economy and provide a cost-effective creative solution for our members. Our members are made up of schools, early years and community groups. We estimate that each group can save up to €1,000 on their creative budget each year with a ReCreate membership. A nominal annual membership fee allows groups unlimited access to our materials, allowing them to flourish and take part in projects and events that may not have been previously possible due to budget restrictions.

We had such a blast at the Luke Kelly Festival last weekend.
The challenge: Create a giant Luke Kelly head and wigs from reuse materials.
Thanks to artist Vera Klute for creating the fabulous mould, Archetype for inviting us to be part of the festivities and to our suppliers for the reuse materials. This is creative reuse in action. Zero waste fun. Check out the Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste getting in on the action.

2023 marks ReCreate's 10th Anniversary and as part of these 10th year celebrations ReCreate proudly takes up residence in Dublin Port's new cultural space the Pumphouse, as part of Dublin Port's Art and Community Engagement Programme 2023. This is ReCreate's first residency and two-month long presence outside of our Headquarters in Ballymount. We are excited to creatively engage local communities in our reuse practices and to also link local suppliers to the communities. Our ambition is to be of service in the support and development of Dublin Port and City's circular economy. Please join us during our two month residency to pick up materials, to engage in our projects, to ask us questions and collaborate. For more information on our Pumphouse workshops please see the link in bio.

Thanks to Community Resources Network Ireland CRNI for awarding us with a ReMark Quality Mark for our commitment to circular practices alongside 6 other fantastic organisations. The assessment looked at key areas like Social + Environmental, Governance, HR, Health & Safety, Circular Services Management and Physical Premises. The whole team at ReCreate was involved (including all our new staff members) in preparing for this assessment over the past few months, so its a proud moment for everyone
