Back to Training

Last night, our volunteers were back at training, and it was great to see everyone back together after the break. We were also delighted to welcome a few new recruits to the team

It was a nice evening to ease ourselves back into things, and what better way to start than by showing the new recruits the ropes… literally 😄

The evening covered a range of essential skills, including various knots and how to correctly complete lashings on a stretcher.

And, of course, we couldn’t finish the night without putting those new skills into practice.

The evening finished with a scenario where everyone had the opportunity to utilise what they had learned and work together as a team.

A great first night back, plenty of learning, teamwork and a few new skills added to the toolkit.

Welcome to all our new recruits, we look forward to seeing you develop and become part of the team.

Lucan Garda Station Open Day

Today, Dublin Civil Defence had the pleasure of taking part in the Lucan Garda Station Open Day, and what a brilliant day it was 😊

From start to finish, the station and town was filled with smiley faces, laughter and people enjoying a lovely day together.

It was fantastic to see so many members of the public come along, meet the emergency services and get a closer look at the work we do.

Alongside An Garda Síochána, Dublin Fire Brigade and other emergency services, we had the opportunity to showcase some of the amazing assets and capabilities used to help keep our communities safe.
From medical and fire response to K9 teams and boats, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, chatted with us and showed their support.
Days like today are a wonderful reminder of the strong community spirit that brings us all together.

And of course, a big thank you to Lucan Garda Station for hosting such a fantastic open day. We were delighted to be part of it.

🇮🇪 National Services Day Ireland 🇮🇪

Today was a reminder of what makes our country so special, the people who stand ready to help others, often without a second thought.

Volunteers from Dublin Civil Defence were proud to celebrate National Services Day, together with Ireland’s professional and voluntary emergency services.

Today was about more than recognising a uniform or an organisation. It was about recognising the people behind them, the volunteers who give their time, the emergency service personnel who answer the call, and the Defence Forces and voluntary organisations who continue to serve our communities.

Behind every response is dedication.
Behind every helping hand is compassion.
And behind every team is a shared commitment to making a difference when people need it most.

We are incredibly proud to represent Dublin Civil Defence and to stand alongside so many remarkable people who give so much to others.

To every volunteer, every emergency service member, and every person who contributes to the safety and wellbeing of our communities... thank you.

Your service matters, your commitment matters, and the difference you make matters.

Today, we celebrate you. 🇮🇪❤️

Dublin Civil Defence provided medical cover for the NSPCA in Rathfarnham on Saturday. 🐾🚑

We absolutely love supporting this duty every year. It’s such a lovely family day, and we get the chance to meet some of the wonderful animals in their care. ❤️

This year was extra special for one of our volunteers Keith. While on duty and having a look around, he was introduced to a tiny, adorable pup… and, well, the rest is history! 🐶❤️

Less than an hour later, he had called his family, and together they made the decision to adopt this little cutie. 🥰

We have some truly amazing volunteers, and thanks to one of them, this beautiful pup has been given the chance of a loving new family and a very happy future. 🏡🐾

Just look at both their faces… we think they’ve found each other! ❤️🐶

National Services Day 2026 – Launch Day

On Wednesday, Dublin Civil Defence was honoured to take part in the official launch of National Services Day 2026 at Trinity College Dublin, marking the beginning of another year of celebrating the incredible people who serve, protect and support communities across Ireland.

We were delighted to be joined by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, who helped officially launch this year’s National Services Day and recognise the dedication, commitment and service of our Emergency Services, Defence Forces, Voluntary Organisations and supporting services.

🇮🇪 National Services Day will take place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, with events taking place across the country to recognise and celebrate those who dedicate their time to serving their communities and keeping Ireland safe.

Today’s launch sets the scene for what promises to be a fantastic National Services Day, bringing together organisations and communities from across Ireland to celebrate service, dedication and teamwork.

Dublin Civil Defence is proud to be part of it. 💙🇮🇪

Last night, our volunteers were once again on duty at the Aviva Stadium, providing medical and fire cover for the Arsenal vs Real Betis match.

As always, our volunteers demonstrated fantastic professionalism, teamwork and commitment throughout the evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and played their part in ensuring the event was supported safely and professionally. 👏

Another great example of our volunteers working together as one team.
