Great news for the Church in Ireland! 🇮🇪
We join with the Bishops’ Conference in giving thanks for the 15 new seminarians beginning their formation this year, as well as all 74 men currently studying for Irish dioceses.
As Vocations Society of St Joseph, we assure these men of our daily prayers as they take this couragous step. May the Lord guide, protect, and bless them on their journey! 🙏 God bless them all.

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Bishop Matthew Yitiereh from Yendi Diocese, Ghana. Over a cup of tea we discussed the work that we do and how we can support the Seminarians in his Diocese. He remembers with great fondness his time spent in Maynooth doing Post Graduate studies with our help.

We assured Bishop Matthew of our ongoing support and promised to keep him and his diocese in our prayers, as our members remain dedicated to praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood both at home and across the world.

What a blessing and a privilege it was for Pat and I to be welcomed to Redemptoris Mater Seminary yesterday to spend time with Fr. Giuseppe and some of the Seminarians. We saw all the wonderful work that has been done, mostly by themselves and volunteers, to make it the home that it has become for so many Seminarians from around the world who work with the local Community, journeying with them where they find themselves at this moment as part of their training. It is a beautiful space especially the new Church which is breathtaking. We spent time in prayer with them before sharing a delicious lunch. It was a gentle reminder of what we ourselves are working for.

Thank you Fr. Giuseppe and everyone at Redemptoris Mater. We ask all members of our Society to continue praying for the seminarians.

Today (Aug 27) and tomorrow (Aug 28), the Church celebrates a mother and her son: St. Monica and St. Augustine. Their shared story gets to the very heart of vocational discernment:

St. Monica shows that no vocation happens in isolation, it takes persistent, quiet prayer to water and support a call.
St. Augustine proves God calls the restless. No past disqualifies anyone, and no heart is ever beyond the reach of Grace.

Pray today for those discerning their path, and for the faithful families whose prayers carry them🙏

St. Monica & St. Augustine, pray for us!

We are delighted to share the news that Bishop Larry Duffy has appointed Monsignor Joseph McGuinness as the new Prior of Lough Derg.

Monsignor Joseph is no stranger to Lough Derg, having been a regular member of the clergy team on Station Island over the years. We look forward to welcoming him to this new role and assure him of our prayers.

Our thanks and prayers also go to Fr La Flynn for his dedicated service as Prior.
