Students for Democratic Action: 1969 In 1968-69, UCD was in ferment as students revolted. Fifty years on, some survivors reunited for commemorations in music, drama, and spoken word.

In 1968-69, University College Dublin was in ferment as students revolted. Fifty years on, some of the survivors have reunited to organise a commemoration in music, drama, and spoken word. We will present two events in Febr

uary and March 2019 to celebrate the 'Gentle Revolution' in UCD fifty years ago, from 1968 to 1970, focusing on the occupation of the Administration Block in February 1969. One will take place in UCD Belfield on 28 February 2019, under the rubric of ‘Characters in Conversation’. Several veterans of the ‘Gentle Revolution’ will answer questions and present their memories of the events and their significance. The other will be a concert at the National Concert Hall on Tuesday 12 March 2019, with many of the performers also participants in the events of 50 years before.More details as we sign up artistes, but the show will include music — mostly songs of the 60s — dramatic pieces and spoken word.

“The Spanish government recently banned US armed forces from using its military bases to launch its attacks against Iran, which have killed more than 1,300 people.

“Prime minister Pedro Sánchez, however, continues to allow ships carrying IDF munitions through Spain. The Ditch reported last December that the largest shipment of Israeli weapons since October 2023 was transported through its territorial waters.

“Rotterdam-based Hartel Shipping and Chartering operates the Rijnvliet cargo ship.
Irish corporation NorthStandard EU DAC provides the Dutch-registered ship with protection and indemnity insurance which is compulsory under EU and international law.”

They're expected to arrive at the Port of Haifa next week.

REMEMBER 9/11!!!!

On September 11 1973 aircraft flew at the presidential palace in Lima, Chile, bombing and machine-gunning the seat of the democratically elected government of President Salvador Allende.

The CIA-inspired coup by Chilean army officers aimed to destroy the movement of the people that elected this socialist government, and Salvador Allende was killed by the plotters, his body found in the ruins of the presidential palace after the attack.

This man worked for years for one of the most bloodthirsty Zionist supporters in the US. He lied about his shareholding in enabler Palantir.

Now he is readmitted to the Social Democrats after a short suspension, emoting his regret and shedding crocodile tears. Oh, you say, but he has donated his blood money profit to Palestine causes.

Indeed. But his gesture makes it worse. If he was truly contrite, he’d have donated at least the full value of his shareholding.

In any case, this decision by the SDs means they will never again get a vote from me.

The party’s acting leader said he believed the TD should be given ‘a second chance’.
