In 1968-69, University College Dublin was in ferment as students revolted. Fifty years on, some of the survivors have reunited to organise a commemoration in music, drama, and spoken word. We will present two events in February and March 2019 to celebrate the 'Gentle Revolution' in UCD fifty years ago, from 1968 to 1970, focusing on the occupation of the Administration Block in February 1969. One will take place in UCD Belfield on 28 February 2019, under the rubric of ‘Characters in Conversation’. Several veterans of the ‘Gentle Revolution’ will answer questions and present their memories of the events and their significance. The other will be a concert at the National Concert Hall on Tuesday 12 March 2019, with many of the performers also participants in the events of 50 years before.More details as we sign up artistes, but the show will include music — mostly songs of the 60s — dramatic pieces and spoken word.
