We are deeply saddened by the death of Jamey Carney.

Our thoughts are with Jamey’s family, friends and all who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time.

As Gardaí continue their investigation, we must also confront a painful reality that violence against women remains a national crisis.

Every woman has the right to live free from fear and violence. One woman killed is one too many.

RIP Adina Raluca Constantin 💔

Another life taken at the hands of violence. She should still be here. This is exactly why ZERO TOLERANCE is needed. Enough is enough. No more women losing their lives. We need to end violence against women.

We will say her name, and we will not stay silent. Rest in peace, Adina. You deserved so much more 🩵

“There was nowhere safe for them to go.”

Almost 1,900 women were turned away from domestic violence services in just six months because there was nowhere safe for them to go.

Today in the Dáil, Mary Lou McDonald challenged the Taoiseach, asking what action the Government will take to ensure that no woman trying to escape abuse is ever turned away because there is no refuge or safe accommodation.

According to Safe Ireland, the housing crisis is now the single biggest barrier preventing women and children from escaping abuse.

The Government must ensure that when a woman seeks safety, she is never turned away.
