Léargas We manage European and other international programmes in education, training, youth work and sport in Ireland.

Léargas is a not-for-profit organisation that operates under the aegis of the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. Léargas manages European, national and international exchange and cooperation programmes in education, training and youth and community work and has been managing such programmes for over 30 years. Léargas currently has 40 staff based in

our Dublin office. Our staff come from Ireland, Poland, France, Croatia, Denmark and Spain and have wide-ranging experience in education, training, community, youth and development work; and in IT and finance. The National Centre for Guidance in Education operates under the aegis of Léargas.

Through the European Solidarity Corps, Ellie volunteered with Ballyfermot Youth Service, supporting young people in a youth club and the local community.

From painting murals to taking part in beach clean-ups, Ellie worked alongside young people on activities that were creative, active, and meaningful.

Her experience highlights the impact of volunteering — building confidence, developing new skills, and creating strong connections with others.

Through ESC, organisations like Ballyfermot Youth Service support young people and volunteers to grow, learn, and make meaningful change.

For their Erasmus+ project Kinder to the Sea, St. Sylvester’s Infant School partnered with schools in Estonia and Spain to develop environmental awareness among young children.

Through shared activities, litter pick-up initiatives, and creative exchanges such as digital postcards, the schools connected pupils across borders while exploring common environmental challenges.

By combining hands-on learning with teacher mobility and the exchange of best practices in early years education, Kinder to the Sea shows how Erasmus+ projects can foster sustainability awareness, strengthen school partnerships, and empower both educators and young learners across Europe.

For their Erasmus+ project Digital Upbringing, Meath Partnership worked with five European partners to support families to discuss and understand online safety.

Through open-access workshops, an intergenerational learning programme, podcasts, and community-based initiatives, the project delivered practical resources tailored to families’ needs.

By equipping over 180 parents with essential digital skills – including Ukrainian families newly arrived in Ireland - Digital Upbringing shows how Erasmus+ projects can strengthen digital resilience and empower families across Europe.
