Leinster CAC

Leinster CAC The County Affairs Committee is a sub-committee of the Leinster Branch and is charged with running I

The competitions are run on a points based system in which all players will have been given an individual grade. This would mean that a Grade 4 player on 14 points in Laois would be of an equal standard to a player from Wexford on 14 points or any other county. Once players are graded correctly it gives a very consistent competition in all events.

Today, the Leinster CAC Inter-League Competition took place across two venues. Grades 6 and 7 travelled to Marino College to contest their semi-finals, while all other grades competed at Leinster’s Terenure Badminton Centre.

After a morning of closely fought encounters, all semi-finals concluded on schedule, giving the successful teams a well-earned break ahead of the finals, which commenced at 2:00pm.

The finals themselves were incredibly competitive. In many cases, the final scorelines don’t fully reflect just how tight the matches were. Remarkably, all but one tie went right down to the final mixed doubles match to determine the winner.

Well done to all players who reached the finals, and congratulations to all the winners on the day.

A big thank you to Gerard Morgan for organising the event, and to Walter Rountree (CAC Chairman) for overseeing proceedings throughout the day.

Below is a roundup of the final results and photos.

Condolences to the Gannon family on the passing of Mary Gannon .
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all .
May she rest in peace 🙏🏻

We are so sorry to share the passing of a true legend - Mary Gannon.
Mary was a truly valued member of the Leinster Youth Activities Committee, (YACs)giving many many years of her time to support others. She generously volunteered at tournaments, bringing teams on trips, and shared her passion for badminton through her own style of coaching. Her warmth, energy, fun and dedication she brought to juvenile badminton inspired everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Our thoughts are with all the family.
May She Rest in Peace

What an amazing day it was last Sunday at Leinster’s Baldoyle Badminton Centre and Tolka Rovers GAA Hall.

The finals of the Leinster Inter-County Competition were spread across two venues, creating a fantastic display of colour, with every team proudly wearing their county colours. With six grades competing through semifinals and then finals, this was no easy task.

A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to make events like this such a success, and of course your contribution played a big part as well.

We understand that some ties ran a little longer than expected, and hopefully next year we can introduce umpires to make things even more official and help save time. The use of scoreboards will also be a great asset to this competition and should help reduce any disputes over scores.

Reports coming in suggest that this was the best Inter-County Competition to date, so let’s keep building on that and aim to improve even further next season.

With that said, a very special thanks must go to Kevin Delaney, the CAC Committee, and everyone working behind the scenes who put in endless effort with grading, sourcing venues, checking player affiliations, and taking care of all the many details needed to run an event like this.

Well done to all the semifinalists, and to the finalists who just fell short. A massive congratulations to all the winners.

Attached are team photos and some from winners .
