Join us for lunch to celebrate 25 years of Oesophageal Cancer Fund on Friday 30th of October at Elm Park Golf Club, Donnybrook, Dublin , D04 WE09.

To mark this milestone, we would love for you to join us for a warm, social afternoon of celebration—bringing together the supporters, survivors, volunteers, and friends who made this progress happen. This will happen over a 3 course lunch with a drinks reception beforehand.

Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) is urging people to know the symptoms of Barrett’s Oesophagus, a pre-cancerous condition that can progress onto oesophageal cancer.
A reminder to mind our gut health.

An estimated 35,000 people in Ireland have Barrett’s but the good news is that this is an illness that can save your life, as the more people diagnosed, monitored and treated for Barrett’s, the less people will progress on to oesophageal cancer. The charity, along with Research Ireland, funds the National Barrett's Registry and Biobank showcased at the Trinity St. James's Cancer Institute this week, as part of OCF's Lollipop Day fundraising campaign which raised €230,000 this year.

Oesophageal Cancer Fund is urging people not to ignore ongoing heartburn or acid reflux and to go to their GP with any concerns. The charity is also asking antacid manufacturers to go bigger and better with their on-pack warnings about ongoing heartburn or acid reflux which should be checked out by the GP if it lasts over 3 weeks.

OCF Patient ambassador, Gillian Schorman, from Dublin was diagnosed in 2021 with Oesophageal Cancer. Now 5 years since her diagnosis Gillian does all she can to urge anyone with symptoms to get checked out - “If sharing my story encourages just one person to get their persistent heartburn or difficulty swallowing food checked, then it’s worth it. People shouldn’t be afraid to talk to their doctor about any concerns.”
