The Wheezy Walkers Wednesday started off like a page from Where's Wally? πŸ“–πŸ” Phone calls flew back and forth, but eventually we all found each other. It's probably fair to say we won't be signing up for an orienteering day trip anytime soon! πŸ˜‚
This week's adventure took us to Corkagh Park, and to say it's a beautiful spot is an understatement.
Our first mission was to track down our fellow Wheezy Walkers who had entered through a different gate. Thankfully we found them exactly where any sensible person would be... enjoying a cuppa in Ruff CafΓ©! β˜•πŸ₯ After a good chin wag, a coffee and the obligatory pastry (walking fuel, obviously) we set off to explore the park.
First we came across Corkagh Park's very own version of the Arc de Triomphe. It may not be quite as grand as the one in Paris, but the decorative stonework was beautiful all the same. We then discovered a magnificent wooden sculpture celebrating the wildlife that calls the park, home. 🦊🐰🐟πŸͺΏπŸ¦’πŸ¦‰πŸ¦”
A rendition of I Beg Your Pardon, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden seemed only fitting as we wandered through the rose garden. There we spotted some delightful little visitors a blue finch (I think) a butterfly or flutter by, as it did when I tried to take the photo and a pair of robins who were quite obviously husband and wife, judging by the animated discussion they were having in the Victorian style gazebo! πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬›
If there's one thing COPD has taught us, it's to stop and smell the roses 🌹 and one of our ladies took that advice very seriously! 😊
After another well earned sit down to admire the surroundings, the heavens decided to join us. The Wheezy Walkers embraced the weather like seasoned pro's wrapped in waterproofs and wearing the sort of determined expressions that said "rain, what rain"? πŸŒ§οΈπŸ˜‚
Another wonderful Wednesday filled with fresh air, friendship, plenty of laughs and memories made.
