Our South Cork Group were invited by the Ballyphehane Togher CDP, to an event in the Ballyphehane Community Centre on 23rd May and some of their members went along. They were delighted to find out that they had won an award!! The citation read:

"Affiliated with COPD Support Ireland, COPD Support Cork South provides peer support, encouragement and information for people living with COPD. Through activities such as yoga, breathing exercises and social gatherings, the group promotes wellbeing, connection and solidarity through shared experiences."

Congratulations to the South Cork Group! We are delighted to see you being recognised!!

What a fantastic day Team Members Katie & Paula had visiting our Poppintree & Huntstown COPD Support Groups. From practicing breathing techniques to improving balance, building strength, and boosting cardiovascular fitness, everyone embraced the exercises with enthusiasm and plenty of smiles. These classes show that exercise can be both beneficial and enjoyable, helping people living with COPD stay active, connected, and empowered. These classses were delivered by Johns & Tara from Siel Bleu Ireland who encouraged our members to participate at their own pace, making the sessions accessible and supportive for all. It was inspiring to see people living with COPD staying active, building confidence, and having fun together. Johns & Tara were also joined by students & their supervisors from Portobello Institute. Both groups meet at fantastic venues where staff are so welcoming and supportive of our groups. Thanks to the Poppintree Community Sports Centre & Huntstown Community Centre.

Team member Susan was busy yesterday travelling to Tralee & Listowel to visit our COPD Support Groups! Thank you to both groups for giving her such a warm welcome! Our Tralee Group meet at the Parish Centre of St Brendan's Parish, Tralee and our Listowel Group meet at the Listowel Community Centre. Both groups have lovely bright spaces to exercise and are in the very capable hands of their exercise trainers Siobhàn & Trevor! To enquire about either group, contact Susan 087 137 9447.
Note: There is currently a waiting list for our Tralee Group. Please talk to Susan for further details.

Wow!! You are amazing Sabrina Cullen! Not your usual weekend activity, jumping out of a plane!! Sabrina, her sister Tanya and family will be doing the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon and are raising funds for COPD Support Ireland & the Irish Heart Foundation, in memory of their dad. On Friday 26th June, COPD Support Ireland are inviting you to take a walk – wherever you are, whatever distance feels right for you. Whether it’s a stroll around your neighbourhood, a walk with friends along the coast, or a family outing in the park, your steps help raise awareness, support and hope for everyone living with COPD.

Spread the Word! Invite your family, friends, neighbours or colleagues to register and join you. Walk together, share the experience and show that no one facing COPD walks alone.

We’d also love to see your walks in action! Take a photo on the day and send it to us so we can share and celebrate the amazing support happening all across Ireland.

This fundraiser is about more than distance - it’s about community, encouragement, and standing together for better support and understanding of COPD across Ireland.

Register if you can, invite others along, lace up your shoes and hit the pavements for COPD! Let’s make some noise for lung health on 26th June!

Team member Susan visited our Limerick COPD Support Group this week! They meet in the Redemptorist Church Hall for a weekly exercise class delivered by their wonderful trainer and enjoy a cuppa and chat afterwards!
