Yesterday saw the 'Turning of the Sod' on the Oscar Traynor Road site by minister Darragh O'Brien. After 40years of wasteland and eight years of campaigning it was a very welcome sight. Thanks in no small measure to the efforts of the Residents Consultative Forum, namely Eoin for Aulden Grange, Brid for Woodlawn, Robbie & Cormac for Gaelscoil Cholmcille, Brigid for Kilmore, Margaret & Marie for Castletimon, and the late Austin McCoy, myself aided by Jim & Margaret for Lorcan Estate. What was achieved was remarkable, 853 homes, community centre, creche, parks, lake & wetlands, playgrounds, coffee shop, the first houses of which will be ready in 12 months time. Well done to all concerned. (pic: Bren Dalton & Minister Darragh O'Brien)
