There was a lot of serious training Easter Swim Camp for 2025 as the squad prepared for upcoming Galas. We enjoyed some down time with fun and games each evening. There were lots of team building exercises, a quiz, a lovely meal out for the group followed by a fun trip to the Bumber Cars. We ended our trip with a hike up to the famous statue of the “Woman of the Sea”…what a trip! The next one is not to be missed 🏊‍♀️

As we start the new season here are some memories of the Senior and Transition Squads trip to near Barcelona for an amazing Training Camp. Our wonderful coaches Jackie, Sinead and Conor accompanied them. Nineteen of our swimmers completed over 25 hours training in the Olympic swimming pool. They completed land training sessions at a variety of locations around the town and at the beach. They had team bonding in the evening after dinner followed by early to bed.
Our coaches provided a lovely meal out followed by fun at the bumping cars. It was an unforgettable trip enjoyed thoroughly by all and strengthening the already close bonds amongst our swimmers. Roll on the new season and we are looking forward to more fun in pool this year.

Swim Ireland run a continuous online Level 1 Officials Course. The cost is €10 for the Course and you will receive accreditation required immediately. If you have a swimmer competing you must have the Level 1 qualification as every club is required to put forward volunteers when attending Galas.

You can access the course on your profile through Swim Ireland Go.

The purpose of the Level 1 Officials course is an introduction to officiating and understanding of the Swim Ireland Officials structure. It provides an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Timekeepers, the associated operating procedures and covers FINA Rule SW 2.9 along with other duties for working at swimming competitions.

It also qualifies you to fulfil the role of Timekeeper at all levels up to and including National Championships..

Finally the Summer Nationals 2024

We had two finalists this year for the Nationals, Aisling Murray and Sarah McLoughlin.

Both athletes continued their training
throughout the month of July.

They competed in the Free Style and Back Stroke events over five days. They achieved Personal Bests and the majority of their events and gained invaluable experience in a National level Championships.

Well done girls and many congratulations!!

A huge thank you to the dedication and time given to them by the Coaches and especially to our Head Coach Jackie Roche who attended every day providing invaluable support and guidance the athletes.

We hope everyone had a well deserved rest during the month of August and we look forward to a fabulous 2024/2025 Season ahead.

Update Part 2

Leinster Swim Festival 2024

The Viking SC had a great outing at the festival with 22 swimmers taking part.

This included 16 Juniors and 6 Transition swimmers.

We had 13 swims in the top 10, 5 individual medals and 3rd place in the medley relay.

Practically all the swims achieved Personal Bests and more importantly the swimmers had great fun.

It was a nice way for our swimmers to finish their season and thank you again to all involved.

We created some lovely memories from the 2023/24 Season including our Christmas Gala and Christmas swim…

We have some very promising swimmers amongst the younger age groups. We had Personal Bests all around, more National Consideration Times and National Qualification Times. Two of our swimmers went head to head next to each other with Aisling Murray edging ahead to victory putting up a strong performance in the 200 Free Style. On Sunday evening Sarah McLoughlin came 4th place over all in the 200 Backstroke missing out on the medals by a fraction of a second.
Most importantly we had a happy Head Coach 😃
Well done to all who participated in the end of season Galas and a huge thanks to our coaches put in so much effort throughout this year to get our swimmers to where they are and prepare them so well 🏊‍♀️
