We were delighted to welcome Wumi and Kevin to Larch Hill this weekend as Scouting Ireland underwent an in-person Safe from Harm assessment. They evaluated our levels of safeguarding and protection of children and young people against international best practices. Completing this assessment enables us to identify the current state of our Safe from Harm practices based on clearly defined and measurable criteria adopted by World Scouting.

The formal outcome of the assessment will be shared with SI in the coming weeks, but we are certain that Steven our Safeguarding Manager, along with all the volunteers and staff who participated in the process, successfully highlighted the great work that has been done, as well as our ongoing efforts, to keep our members safe from harm.

We are seeking expressions of interest for Rovers and/or Scouters aged under 30 who wish to represent Scouting Ireland at European Innovative Thinking Labs in early 2026.

The Innovative Thinking Lab series is a participatory, design-based training format that empowers youth leaders to collaboratively explore complex societal challenges. The series two Labs, “Youth Movements in Times of Political Polarisation” and “Fake news, digital and media literacy”.
